We are finally in the car, on our way home from visiting family in CT. What a week!
DS decided he was going to fuss if anyone but DH or I tried to hold him or even talk to him in the first 3 or 4 days. Then he had constant meltdowns because we were running between my parents' and the ILs' and he wasn't napping when he needed to.
I can't wait to get home and back in to our cool house too. I swear my MIL was trying to roast is to death because she was worried the baby was too cold. Forget that I told her that 74 degrees is too warm for him to wear a long sleeve onesie and fleece sleeper... His baby acne is a mess because he was too hot all week!
I am also done with all the random suggestions of how to soothe my kid: rice cereal, just let him cry, don't put him down for a nap now so he'll sleep better later, etc etc. I know it was all well intentioned but a week of that would drive anyone mad.
To top it all off, my nephew had a cold on Christmas Day and DH and I both caught it. So we have spent the last three days trying to recover
Home sounds wonderful right now and next year we are going to stay half the time we did this year! But I survived
