June 2013 Moms

Sex

So I am now almost 16 weeks pregnant and so far everything in my pregnancy is going fine. The bad morning sickness is tapering and I am having more good days...So my husband and I have not had sex in 16 weeks-I just was not in the mood due to all day nausea. Now  I am feeling better and starting to get back in the mood...but I am a little scared to have sex now. I know it can't harm the baby but I am afraid it will hurt or I will bleed. If I have light bleeding is that something I should call my dr. about??

Re: Sex

  • i'm sure everything will be fine. but as far as the light bleeding goes, usually its only a concern if you are changing a full pad in less than an hr.

  • It probably will be a little uncomfortable after 16 weeks, but you should really relax and have sex. It will be better for you and your husband. A little spotting really is completely normal. If you have no cramping and aren't filling a pad within an hour, spotting after sex is okay!

  • We've had a lot of sex in the past few weeks. No spotting from me and I did have an episode of spotting around 8 weeks. If you're worried try to take it easy but don't worry. It's fine

  • We have had sex a few times and it has been great! Try not to worry if you spot, it is fairly common after sex.
  • I've gone more than 4 months without sex between relationships when I was in my 20's, and it never hurt to start back up - it actually felt amazing! My DH and I have been making sexy time through the entire pregnancy, and it just keeps getting better and better. I don't know how far along you are, but I'm pretty sure the majority of June 2013 moms are in the second trimester. If you are, then your cervix is pulled up deeper inside, so unless your husband is a horse, he probably won't knock on your cervix without crazy penetration. Have fun! Pregnancy orgasms are incredible!

ETA: I see now that you're 16 weeks - you should totally have sex!

  • I actually had sex last night which was the first time since we conceived.  It wasn't painful or anything, and there was no bleeding.  I wouldn't worry about it, but if spotting happens it's pretty normal.  Call the doctor if you feel the need, though.

  • Don't worry..we have been having sex since we conceived and I have never had a hint of spotting. Have fun!
  • Yeah It has been TOO long! But I am finally feeling kinda normal again. My husband has been so good about everything! Very lucky:)
  • Go for it :)  If you spot, just keep an eye on it.  No reason to call the doctor because it's really common given the cervix is sensitive.  He's not going to poke a hole it in and allow the baby to fall out or anything :-p

  • I don't want to freak you out, but I had a different experience than the other posters.  After sex/during I had a pretty big gush of blood.  It was enough to change the sheets, and the mattress overlay.  It freaked me out and my husband. We called the midwife who told us just to monitor and bleeding continued to call back.

Everything was fine I had an appt 4 days later they did a quick u/s since I was freaking out still and baby was great.  They said it could have been a pollup (sp)on the cervix that ruptured.

Unfortunetly my husband is now totally freaked out and doesn't want to touch me.

  • It shouldn't hurt, but a little bleeding after sex can be totally normal and nothing to worry about.

  • I don't have any bleeding (knock on wood) but I do know that while I am pregnant, sometimes it is a little more uncomfortable for me.  It happened when I was pregnant with my daughter too.  And not to get too TMI...it was more with foreplay and his fingers that I could not handle.  Usually something I really like but while pregnant, it hurts.  Sex though does not.  Just wanted to give you a heads up.
