Your Opinion..just an overtired kid or something else?

So last night we had the kids out pretty LATE.(special circumstance DH brother he hasn't seen in 20 yrs was in town).

SD (4) had a great time with the other kids playing, we had a great dinner, life was grand.

We got in the car buckled up and she said that she was cold. It WAS cold out but she had a super thick jacket on and I had turned the heat on already so it warmed up within 3-5 minutes.

She said she wanted her blanket and she was cold and started crying. We tried to calm her and gave her my spare jacket to add extra but she refused it over and over saying she was cold. She literally said the same thing with real tears for the entire 40 minute ride home. You could not reason with her, you could not calm her, NOTHING was making her happy despite the fact I guarantee the temp in the car was 85+ and we were all dying.

We pulled into the subdivision and she stopped completely and acted as if nothing had ever happened. I got her out of car seat and YEP she was sweating too. No fever, just from the car being that warm and probably the constant crying.

I've never seen anything like it.

  • I'm going to say over tired.  The cold air was probably a bit of shock if she was running around and having a great time with her cousins.

  • If that was it and she acted like her normal self today I would say over tired.

Totally this!  My SDs become train wrecks when they are tired and DS is an absolute nightmare when he is pooped, especially after a fun visit where they all get to stay up late

  • My DS, 2.5 years old, is exactly the same way when over tired/stimulated.  He has a great time doing something, we let him stay up a little late, and he melts down and there's no reasoning with him.  I'd say if she feels/acts normal today, you just had a kid who had too good of a time!
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
  • Definitely tired. SD is 4 and she is a NIGHTMARE when she is tired.
