3rd Trimester

Am I able to tell my doc when??

Hey ladies! I have a question. I am 15-ish weeks, and I live 3+ hours away from my family. Barely any of our parents have come visited us since we moved, and when the time comes, I want them to be here. I was wondering, if I could ask my doctor for a due date for around the time my baby comes to be induced. Like, pick it like 3 months before my due date so I have enough warning for the fams. I would like to have it naturally on its own time, but I don't want my family not to come. Do the doctors do that or am I SOL? Please help lol!

  • MUD - made up drama

No one believes your first post would be stupid enough to ask about being induced because of family plans and putting your baby at risk, so if you are NOT making this question up, you need to seriously SERIOUSLY slap yourself and then talk to your doctor.

  • Well I wasn't, but apparently you want to start some so have fun. You know, I'm going to be a new mom, I have no idea what protocols are what with doctors or anything, and I am scared about my family being too big of ASSHO LES to bother to come and see my baby! So yeah, I asked my fellow moms-to-be if I should ask the doctor or not. Well, I have my answer! I came on here to ask a question, not be laughed at and feeling like shi t! So yeah, thanks.

  • Also, in case I worded it wrong, I want to pick the day I want to give birth, like at like 39 weeks, pick the day and tell my family. I'm sorry but I don't get how that would harm my baby. And this is a serious question.

  • Just have DH call when you start to go into labor...it usually takes more then 3+ hours to have a baby once you notice contractions starting. Three hours is nothing...try living across an ocean.

  • Yes, thank you for responding. But my problem is, that mine and DH's parents are that dumb, where if we don't tell them an exact date, they won't come. We know it. His father will not come down for his son's. But his stepdaughter he'll come down for in a heartbeat. He owns his own restaurant and blames not coming on that. Not the exact excuse for my parents, (weather) and its excuses after another for all of them. We thought if we gave them a date a while in advance, they wouldn't have an excuse. So that is why we're on here.

  • wow, all I can say is wow.
  • If your doctor agrees to that, I'd get a new doctor.  3 hours is not far; they can easily get there between early labor and the baby being born.

Umm, hello! If they don't care enough to come when it happens for real, why on earth would you go out of your way to make it so it's "convenient" for them. Having a baby is not a convenience. Get that into your head now so you won't be continually disappointed for years to come.

  • Some doctors will do this so if it's what you want ask your OB.

Do you want them in the delivery room with you? Honestly I would be happy if people waited till we are home to visit rather then come to the hospital. Maybe you can schedule a visit for a week or two after you have the baby. Also what would you do if your baby comes a little early like 38 weeks? They wouldn't be able to be there then.

  • I want to give birth today, why didn't I think of telling my OB to pencil me in? DAMN IT.

You are an idiot if you don't see the "harm" in this. Babies are not suppose to be induced to make it easy for the family to come, only for medical reason period. You are a twatwaffle. Now, look down at your siggy. Is 17 weeks third tri? No. Then go back where you belong.

  • Not MUD and yet knows enough to but weird spaces in swear words. Whatever. Go ahead, be induced. Why not put baby on your schedule your whole life? why should a baby impede your fun? No reason to worry about the dancers, counterindications, or doing any researching at all...no need.
