Fever of 100.3?

My LO has a rectal temp of 100.3. I called my pedi and left a message with the service but it's been over 2 hours and no call back!!!! I am furious but I want to do right by my baby and will deal with this pedi later. What should I do for LO? Does it warrant a visit to re ER? TIA

Re: Fever of 100.3?

  • I was told to take DD in if she had a fever of 100.4 for more than 24 hours. Have you tried giving your LO Tylenol? Is your LO fine otherwise?? Stuffy nose?? Congested?? Cough??

  • Have you given children's Tylenol? If it was me, I'd do that and monitor to see if it keeps going up or drops. I don't remeber the temp requirement to go in. How old is your LO?

  • I'm reading conflicting information online as far as temp. Most sites say after 3 months of age if temp is above 100.3 to monitor behavior and fluid intake. If you're uncomfortable, follow your gut. It's your best guide.

  • Thnks so much Ladies. The dr on call finally called back and said not to worry unless the fever gets to 103 or he gets lethargic. I'm giving him tylenol when he wakes up he fell asleep early tonite.

And first thing Monday I'm firing my pedi!

  • I gave my LO infant Tylenol gave her a cool bath to help bring her temp down. If it didn't go down then I'd bring her in.
