Weight Loss Worry

Anyone else still losing weight? I'll hit 11w tomorrow and according to the scale, I've dropped around 6 pounds since my first OB appointment in November. I've lost the last 2 recently and it seems too close for comfort. I still have most of my symptoms and I have good days and bad days. My energy is still MIA, as is any appetite or desire for food. I'll admit that I eat about 1.5 meals a day, but still have to take care of DS and function. I tried to rationalize it by computing what my WW points would be and I'm about the # of points for "losing" weight. No, I am not on WW right now, but it's an easier method for me to guesstimate my caloric/food intake. However, for personal reasons and losses that I don't really ever want to go into, I am very nervous about missing something.

Is anyone else losing weight because of no appetite? I see the OB this week (and not sooner because he's still closed early this week) and coupled with the increase in dizziness, well, my brain is on overload because some fears never leave you.

Re: Weight Loss Worry

  • Yes. Lots of pg women lose weight. I've lost about 8 lbs so far. Since baby is growing, my doc is not concerned.

  • I know pg loses weight... It is the rapid loss that I am more concerned about.
  • Don't worry about it. I've lost 12 pounds and my doctor wasn't worried. She said, as long as I'm still eating something, I'm getting nutrients, but that people who tend to eat healthier when pregnant, tend to lose weight, and if you have ms you are eating less, which would also mean losing weight. She said, as long as I start gaining in the next couple of weeks (now that I'm starting my second tri) it'll be fine.

Don't worry, when I called my doc I had lost 4 lbs in 5 days... I was throwing up a lot and the only things I could hold down, and wanted to each were fruits and veggies, so she said it made sense and since baby's measuring fine, it's ok.

  • I've lost 15 pounds due to m/s. doc isn't worried since I take my vitamins, drink TONS of water and juices, and eat what I can.
  • Ask your OB. If he or she is not concerned then I wouldn't worry.

  • I was losing weight due to ms and the midwives were not concerned. I wasn't keeping anything nutritious down and they told me I was fine.

  • I've lost 12 and I keep losing. It happened with DD as well. My doctor always brings it up but I eat plenty and the baby is right on track.

By the end of my pregnancy with DD I had lost and then gained back everything I lost so I walked into the hospital weighing exactly what I weighed pre-pregnancy. I walked out about 30 pounds thinner than I was before I got pregnant. My daughter was absolutely perfect. I'm not going to worry about it this time.

  • I have lost weight too. I like beer though so maybe I'm losing it because I am not drinking anymore!
