Preemies

DD might have RSV and I might have another preemie....

So I posted last night about being monitored in L&D for contractions and a positive FFN test. Well, I was worried enough about the fact that DH, I, and DD have all had colds for the past two weeks or so, but DDs cough seems to be getting worse while DH and I are getting better. Then it hit me that we saw our niece last week for Xmas and she had just been diagnosed with RSV. I wasn't too worried then since I figured I had two months until I was due and hadn't had any warning signs of premature labor then. So now I'm wondering if DD had a regular cold and then got RSV and we just didn't realize that she had a new illness.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm supposed to "take it really easy" in hopes of not triggering any more contractions, (I'm at 50% effaced and not dilated but I was 70% effaced and not dilated the day before my water broke with DD so this isn't too reassuring) but if, heaven forbid, I go into full labor in the next few weeks and DD has RSV how on earth can I keep from passing it the LO? Anyone know how long RSV lasts? Should I call my pedi and ask him for advice?

This just keeps getting more stressful.

Re: DD might have RSV and I might have another preemie....

  • I'm so sorry you are going through this! I would call your pedi right away and tell them your concerns. IF your LO has RSV the sooner you catch it the better... maybe they can treat it so that if your second LO is born soon it won't be as scary.

    T&P!

Oh goodness.  Sad  I would definitely give your pedi a call and see what they say.  Can you get your DD to an urgent care center and get her tested to make sure?  T&Ps

I don't know- does urgent care have tests for RSV? I guess they probably do. My pedi is awesome so I'll give him a call and see what he says. Luckily I haven't had any contractions since this morning so hopefully yesterday was a false alarm and we have a few more weeks of baby baking to go.

    Thanks for the T&Ps ladies.

  • Praying your DD doesn't have RSV. Please keep us posted.
