Hi,
I am 5 weeks pregnant and looking for a recommendation for a midwife near the Eastside who does VBACS. We used midwives with our son but he ended up being too big and ended up being born via csection. We loved our midwives for the amazing support and prenatal care, and even throughout our son's birth they provided great advocacy for us at the hospital.
Evergreen has a new midwife program but isn't taking VBACS yet. We prefer a midwife, but will go to an OB if that's the only option we have.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a midwife who takes VBACS? And if not, then any suggestion where to look for an OB who supports VBACS? It's my understanding there aren't even many OBs who do...
Thanks so much!
Re: VBAC help/recommendations
There is a whole section on VBAC and information about area hospitals rates of Trials of Labor After Cesarean TOLAC and VBAC. Seattle ICAN and VBACFacts.com are other useful resources. Are you looking for a CNM in a hospital or a LM out of hospital? Group Health is likely your best bet for hospital based midwives/CNM. Talk to ICAN for LMs. VBACs are not allowed at free standing birth centers in WA, but there are a few midwives who will do home birth.
Here is a VBAC class if you are interested too.

Good luck finding a great provider.
I used Tracy and Geraldine of Fremont Midwifery. I absolutely loved them, and they do to home births. I am not certain if they do VBACs, but they are a pair of very, very skilled home birth midwives if that is what you're looking for, so you might consider contacting them to see if they would take you.
Good luck!
Evergreen allows VBAC births and Center for Women's Health at Evergreen is supportive of VBAC births. There aren't any midwifes, they left to start the practice at Evergreen, but the OB's are awesome!
Good Luck!
Thank you all, again! :
If you haven't already, definitely consider joining the Seattle chapter of ICAN

They have an email list and monthly meetings and are a wealth of support and information, including recommendations to hospital and out of hospital VBAC providers.
