Where the bfuck do I put....

all these damn toys!? I'm happy everyone loves and gave C some awesome Christmas presents, but I don' t have room in my tiny house. He got a lot of big crap - little tykes car, rocking chair, rocking horse, another ride on car, grocery cart. It looks like a daycare in here and I only have one kid that plays with them. I glad that now J is older he gets video games and legos. They are easier to store.

  • Amen! I'm gathering a few of Nora's toys she doesn't give two craps about to donate. My SD got a whole lot of technology items, which all have their own place in her new, nicely organized and painted room. My SD and your oldest are the same age, too.

  • Amen. My 900sq ft house looks like a toy store threw up in it. Funny thing is when people asked what she wanted for Christmas, I mentioned that we literally left her birthday party with a truck bed full of toys, so maybe money or a gift certificate toward swimming lessons, a zoo pass, etc would be nice. On Christmas, we came home with more toys and clothes. But we also requested no gifts for her birthday and still came home with that truck full of toys. Or my SIL, who doesn't have a ton of money, will buy these WAY overpriced ugly outfits and leaves the price tags on them. As much as I hate to say it, I would rather she ask what Gator "needs" or just save her money. Instead she spends all this money on outfits I will never put Gator in....almost all of them still have the tags on them and go from the closet into storage without being worn. It would be awesome if she got Gator some thing that would actually get worn, or instead of paying $50 on an ugly sweater give $10 towards a zoo pass or something that Gator will actually enjoy. Biitchy, I know....but I only have so much space in my house and it is being taken over by outfits with tags still on them....

  • Oh yeah! We left a bunch of toys at Grandma's house and we are still having trouble finding where to put his new toys. DH is supposed to assemble the new toy box which will help some but I have no idea where to put the big toys. Our house is tiny too and right now we have the changing table down in our living room. Once the changing table is gone we will have room for his toy box but in the meantime we are just SOL for space.

  • I'm about to gut the closet in our livingroom under the stairs and make it a toys only closet. I figure if its in there its not getting used anyway! We live in a small house too. Our basement which isnt really finished now houses a play kitchen, ride on toys and now a table with a kid's Lionel train. I've given up on our livingroom.

  • I have the same problem. We have a very tiny house. We asked people to only get him small toys if they felt the need to get him toys at all. Of course nobody listened. I have a tall bookshelf in the living room that is packed with toys. Unfortunately we have a ton of toys now that are to big to fit the bookshelf. It's quickly getting out of control. We really just need more space.

If they have tags on them why don't you return them?
  • I'm just looking around asking the same question.  I've heard that you can box up some toys and put them out in 6 mo. and they'll be 'like new' to them.

do this!!  I swap out toys every few months and keep a few as surprises for those days that they need a new distraction.

  • I like the idea of rotating them. Of course the ones he loves the most are the big ridiculous ones. I could store some in the basement for now.

She buys them from some boutique in her office building so I cannot return. I could sell them on a FB swap and sale page I am on but I fear two things: one, that FB is stupid and for some reason if I comment on the picture or something, it will show on my newsfeed and she will see. Or two, I will have another girl and she will say "where is that cute outfit I got Gator when she was that age?!" I figure I may as well just keep them until I am done having kids or if I have a boy, and then figure out what to do with them.

  • My house has become a giant playroom also and mostly with bigger toys. Not really sure what to put away yet but something has to happen.
