Hannah Ann
I have loved the name Hannah ever since I was little and have always known that would be my little girls name. Now we don't know if we are having a boy or girl yet, but if it is a girl DB would like to use his Nana's MN, which is Ann. I am totally on board with that because Ann is a great middle name that can go with so many names. But when I say it out loud I feel like it sounds silly!
Part of me thinks it only sounds silly when you say it quickly, but I'd really like some honest opinions on whether it sounds okay or not. I mean with neither name being uncommon I'm sure there's plenty of Hannah Ann's out there..

That's how I feel too.
The other girl name we love is Elizabeth, and I know Elizabeth Ann sounds nice. But I've just had my heart set on Hannah for so long. DB and I will have to reach some type of compromise.
What is grandma's first name?

This, sorry.
Having your heart set on a name and not being able to use it must be hard. How stern is DB on having Ann in the middle name spot? Hannah Elizabeth is nice.

Evelann. So.. Hannah Evelann
With that name we are incorporating my grandmother also not just his. Her name was Evelyn. I'm not 100 sold on it but I think it's cute and different and I definitely like it!
He's not necessarily as set on having Ann as the middle name as he is in just using some part of his nana's name in general. Her first name is Barbara which was his first suggestion, but I shot that down and said I would much rather see what we could do with her middle name of Ann.
I actually really like Barbara. Hannah Barbara is a little sing-songy, but that's okay if it honors family I think. My friend recently named her daughter Emma Barbara to honor family and I think it is very nice.
Another option would be to use g-ma's maiden name as the MN for Hannah.
I actually think Emma Barbara sounds super cute. Thanks for the maiden name suggestion, I will have to double check on what it is.
What about Hannah Lyn(n) Ann? Then you're incorporanting the "lyn" from Evelyn and keeping Ann.
I appreciate what you're trying to do with Evelann, but it's a pretty bad smoosh name.
Good luck deciding. Naming a person is hard!
Why do you have to try to incorporate Ann again, when you already have it in Hannah? I would think that is honoring his grandmother.
I say use Hannah to honor his gma, and pick another name you like to use as first or middle name.

This is what I was thinking also. Hannah Elizabeth is beautiful!
I never thought of it that way!! Wow... Thank you for the suggestion. I will have to bring this up with DB.
This is very true. Ahh such a hard decision.
H(Ann)ah..............grandma, did you notice that we used your middle name in our daughter"s first name? That is because you have been such a wonderful person in my life. Love you Grandma!
you can now use any middle name you wish!
There are many ways to honor people. My middle name (before I got married and put my maiden name in the middle) was my paternal grandmother's maiden name. It wasn't filly or pretty but it was meaningful and it sounded fine. My sisters middle name is my maternal grandmother's maiden name.
You can also use their favorite flower, the month they were born, their birthstone, or anything else that reminds you of that person.
If we have another girl, her first or middle name will be Wren in honor of my grandmother. My grandmothers name is Joan Olive, but Wren is a looong story and I know she (and my whole family on my moms side) would LOVE if we used Wren as a name.
I wouldn't use Hannah Ann. I agree iwth others that it sounds strange. Like having a Caitlin Katherine or a Molly Mary. I would just think a little harder about her as a person and find something that works
