7 month sleep issues

My LO is 7 months and has slept though the night since he was 8 weeks. The last 3 weeks have been rough and he wakes up every 30 min2 hours screaming. I figured it was teething, but his bottom 2 teeth came in and he still does the same thing. Patting him, rocking, soothing with him in the crib doesn't work. He screams until we take him out. The past two weeks he has slept in our bed and will sleep 11 hours straight. We try every night in the crib but after such long periods of crying we end up bringing him to our bed. I'm not sure I'm ready to let him CIO out all night 30 min is the longest i have gone but really would like him back in his crib. He wakes up and sits up or pulls himself up and stands. Over Christmas we stayed at my parents and he did the same thing there in his crib but if we put him in a big bed he was fine we put pillows around and had a video monitor. I'm not sure if he just hates the crib or what. We have a great night time routine and aren't sure whether to attempt the CIO method again or keep him in our bed. I feel like I need some alone time with my hubby but hate hearing my LO screaming like he is miserable. He is so persistent and doesn't give up easy. Any advice out there????

Re: 7 month sleep issues

  • I've read that separation anxiety starts around this time and that it can cause a sleep regression because they miss you at night time.  That could explain why he sleeps better with you and your H.

Sorry, I don't have any advice as I'm not there yet, but that's what I've read.  It also said that it would be an ideal time to start CIO or some form of sleep training, so that they know even though you are away you are still there.

  • I am going through the exact same thing with my LO.

Curios to see what others suggest.

  • I'd rule out an ear infection first and then pick a sleep training method, there are 1000 of them, stick to it like glue, and don't look back.

A few great books are Baby Whisperer, Healthy Sleep Habits Healthy Child, The Sleep Lady Shuffle, just to name a few.
