What is your baby up to - playing wise? I find with my DD all she wants to do is crawl around and pull up to stand on things. No interest in blocks or toys or anything except crawling and standing. I try to get her to read books or stack blocks, and nada. She is hard to play with because she'll try something for a minute then crawl off to somewhere she can stand up.
She does enjoy taking her puzzle pieces out of her puzzle and slamming them down after chewing the pieces. And last night she started putting the rings back on the stacking thing and putting cups inside each other (Yay!!)
So - What playing skill is your baby showing (stacking/puzzles/etc...) and what are you having the same issue of them being hard to play with?

Re: How does your baby play?
I feel like I could have written this post. All Audrey wants to do is climb the stairs or find a stray dog kibble to eat. Her new stair activity is climbing one or two stairs and then free falling backward and expecting to be caught. Sigh.
She also enjoys standing up and dancing...and clapping.
When she's not super hyper, she does enjoy looking at books, and she now turns the page for me. As for her toys, such as blocks, all she does is bang them together.
So yeah, I'll join the issues club.
Mine pulls up on everything - trash can, counter, couch, us, literally anything and everything. He is at my feet now playing with Christmas toys so I can attempt to get some work done. He adores his big brother and yells BUBBA constantly when he hears or sees him and wants his attention. He says Bubba more than any other word.
He loves to drop things on purpose to say "uh-oh" and he likes to open every single cabinet - especially the ones he isn't supposed to. He also loves to play with the dog kennel - open and close it and get in it and to shove stuff through the grates of the kennel. More toys end up in there than in his room.

Skyler absolutely loves blocks and she likes banging things together. She also loves her activity table and playing with her exersaucer from the outside. She really likes her toys and people always make the comment that she's the only baby they've seen that actually plays with baby toys. But she also loves cell phones.
She is really into standing unassisted now so she will stand up and sit or squat down over and over again. She loves music as well she dances and claps to it all the time.
She likes to stand. And stand. And stand. Holding on to things, not in the middle of the floor. She has loved this for months and can't get enough of it. I still need to be close by while she is standing because she will occasionally lose her balance if she tries to move her feet the wrong way. She will play while sitting too, but I can tell she'd rather be standing. She LOVES to flip through board book pages. That is her favorite and has been for a long time as far as an activity. If I can get her to start doing it without screaming, she also really likes to take random small toys out of her Halloween pumpkin bucket. She's recently started putting some of them back in (yay!). She next to never plays on her back or belly and has been that way for months. That probably influenced her lack of crawling skills. She can pull herself forward with her hands a couple of feet if she really wants to but that's it. There's no chasing her around.
ETA- For the standing, she does not really pull up yet, so I have to put her in a standing position against an object.

She's happy to play independently so I let her have at it. I'll sit on the floor in the room she's in so she can play with me if she wants.
We got DS a ton of 3 piece puzzles for Christmas, and all he wants to do is bang the pieces together. He actually bangs most of his toys together, but I think he prefers the puzzle pieces because they make the most noise! He also loves flipping through board books, pulling up on furniture, taking magazines off the coffee table, and tearing them up. Oh, and I guess he does kind of 'play' with his shape sorter, by putting in all the shapes and taking them out, but puts them in through the barn door, not the actual holes for each shape. He also likes knocking down block towers that I make, but doesn't stack them himself. He will stack cups, but now that we're teaching him how to drink from a cup, he keeps trying to drink from them, so I took them away as not to confuse him
