Food-when to move from stage 2 to stage 3

Hi! We are using gerber baby food. She has been on stage 3 for a couple months now' just wondering when you all moved to stage 3? She will be 9 months next week and is crawling on her belly.

    We tried stage 3 around 8mo and DD spit out all of the "chunks".  Our ped said most kids don't do well with or like stage 3, so we started moving towards table food instead.

    I made all dd food and I just made it thicker as I went. I introduced meat and finger foods at nine months by 12 she was on table food even though she only had one tooth
