What makeup are you using?

Before I was pregnant, my skin was under control because of the birth control. Fast forward to 8w2d, and my face, particularly my chin, is more broken out than it was ever even as a teen. I just bought the Belli face wash and started it last night, but now I'm wondering if there is a better foundation to both cover and heal my acne. Right now I am using Laura Mercier silk creme foundation and I like the way it covers but I don't know if there is something better or if this is even damaging me more. I am very self-conscious and will not leave the house without foundation or concealer on at this point. Thanks, all!

Re: What makeup are you using?

  • I hear you! I miss my BC complexion.  I use the Clinique Even Better foundation and their bronzer.  I have dark circles under my eyes and it seems to work pretty well.  It doesn't make my skin oily.

  • I've been mixing lancome tinted lifting moisturizer with Lush's "gorgeous" moisturizer, then using a finishing powder.  My skin is so sensitive that I can't use foundation, but this all works wonders to cover my stuff.

  • I really like powdered mineral foundation. I've been using the Maybelline one for about 4 years now. I've tried several other brands, including Mary Kay, and the cheap Maybelline stuff is still my favorite. And it comes with a nice brush.

  • My skin is awful at the moment! I use Naked foundation by Urban Decay, with Erase Paste concealer by Benefit, and Mineral Veil powder by Bare Minerals

  • I'm using the Bare Minerals line.  They recently came out with a compressed powder form of their foundation and mineral veil.  I love it.  It covers really well.

  • I use Dermalogica face wash and moisturizer. Smashbox Halo powder and Tarte concealer it's a little stick, purple package.

I do feel like my moisturizer hasn't been enough lately, my face feels super dry. Not sure if it's winter or pg related, though. Or maybe both? I'm also not in love with my blush or bronzer anymore.

  • I'm just using Tarte BB and then concealer.  With the combination of a few breakouts plus dry skin, anything heavier seems to accentuate the problem.  I've been trying to wear nothing on days when I'm staying at home or only running errands, and that seems to help.

Try Nars Orgasm blush. It's awesome, and really seems to work on every skin tone.

  • Thanks, all! Before pregnancy I was using Bare Escentuals loose powder and that did the trick, but now I need something liquidy/gel-like that will sit and stay on my face. Will try the Clinique and some of your other recs. Happy New Year!!!

Thanks for the suggestion; I've heard really good things about that blush!! I try to use cruelty free whenever possible, so I'll have to double check them.
