Hey all! I am new here. Hubby and I have been married for a year and a half and started trying before we were married with no luck. Started getting checked out in July - found out I have a unicornuate uterus and we were referred for IVF. A laparoscopy also revealed that one tube was completely mangled and the other had clubbed ends. Both were removed along with some endometriosis and a large ovarian cyst. I was given the all clear to get pregnany any time after Jnauary 1. We start our cycle meds on the 19th with a tentative retrieval date of January 29th.
Anxiety is setting in! Lots of dreams about doing something wrong, missing medications, etc. Anyone else starting their first cycle?! Any words of wisdom from anyone further along in the process?!

Welcome, good luck and sorry you have to be here.
this is a great board for advice. Check out the January Polar Bears check-in below as those are the other girls who will be cycling with you.
I just wrapped up my first IVF and the best advice I can give you is to make sure you have some sort of outlet for yourself during the process. Buy a bunch of good books if you read or take up a hobby you've wanted it try or make plans with friends. It sounds cheesy but when you get into the thick of the shots and waiting stress, little things like this really help.

Again, sorry you have to be here but since you are you'll find the best group of ladies that are always hear to offer an ear, shoulder, and or opinions. As far as the anxiety for the most part everyone gets it and everybody deals with it differently.
Any kind of hobbies are great. I like to quilt, go to a movie, I'm a bookaholic, cooking dinner at night also helps to pass the time. Although i don't recommend the 50 shades series when your on pelvic rest, if you haven't read them. Dinner dates with girl friends and spending lots of time with the hubby. It's very difficult I know by try not to dwell or you will put yourself in the looney bin. One of two things is gonna happen; it's either gonna work or its not, and driving ourselves batshit crazy over it isn't going to change the outcome. I try to tell myself this every time I feel like I've reached the en of my rope especially in the 2 ww.
As far as doing something wrong or missing a medication, you will get a detailed schedule from your RE and if you don't and would like them to, ask for it. Your paying those people enough money that they can give you a schedule to make it a little easier on you. If there is something your worried about or just not quite sure about don't hesitate to call your RE and get a answer. That's why they make the big bucks and heaven knows we pay enough money to get a question answered and piece of mind. I've called my nurse I think 4 times in one day. That was a one time thing but I had questions that weren't answered from a consult or start of a cycle and was confused. My RE has caller ID and they have never not answered or returned my phone call. Last piece of advice; during my IVF cycle my DH and I both worked really late on a Friday night and fell asleep on the couch. When we woke up and went to bed we both completely forgot my shot that night. I woke up in the morning in a complete panic realizing I didn't take it. I went ahead and took it and called my RE after hours number a couple hours later when they turn the phones back on. The nurse told me it wasn't ideal of course but what's done is done so don't worry about it and we will see if anything was effected on my u/s in a day or so. When I got my u/s my lining was the best it had been before on that cycle day and my follies were slightly ahead of schedule for the very first time. Now do I recommend missing a shot, absolutely not but if you do, what's done is done. You can't change it now and more than likely everything will still be ok. And also remember if you do make a mistake don't be so hard on yourself, your not the first one to do it I guarantee.
Again sorry this is ridiculously long but I just thought I would give you all the advice I could. If just one thing I said helps your sanity in the long run then it was well worth it.
Good luck to you and best wishes. If you ever need anything or have questions don't hesitate to ask!,
Thank you Crystal! I really appreciate all of that!!
