Trying to Get Pregnant

Prenatal pills

What brand of prenatal pills do you use? My doctor knows that I have a hard time taking pills and suggested that I try the chewable ones. Anyone tried them before? We have been trying to get pregnant for 5 months and still nothing. I starting to get discouraged :( I have a very fertal family and I starting to think something is wrong with me. Everyone in my family had conceived first try. I know that everyone is different but its just discouraging.

Sorry kinda needed to vent too.....

Re: Prenatal pills

  • I know how you feel. My sister already has three kids and she's younger than I. And she wasn't even trying. :/

But I've been taking the Spring Valley from Walmart pnv. It's not chewable. But I have a hard time with swallowing pills too and this one's easy for me.

    Good luck!

  • I use the prenatal vitamins that are the Whole Foods brand, 365.  Been using them for nearly 4 years now (throughout two pregnancies and a year of breastfeeeding each) and have never felt sick from them.

I'm sorry that you are getting frustrated.  I know when you are ready to have a baby that the wait to get pregnant seems excruciatingly long, no matter how long it takes.  If you haven't started already, I would recommend charting your fertility cycle each month and keeping a record of it so that in the event you end up seeing a dr. to help with fertility you have this information to give them.  Good Luck.

  • Thanks! Its just hard when your grandma asks if I am pregnant yet and I tell her no. Her responce everytime is are you having enough sex or are you sure nothing is wrong with you. She keeps reminding me that all my aunts have had 3-5 kids and there kids are having kids now. She told me that I need to get on the ball. I have started charting but its weird. I was on a continues BC and never had a cycle for 3 years. Now they are 35 days and they use to be 27 days.

  •  I take the gummy ones daily, the Vitafusion ones. They are super yummy, and don't give me heartburn like the others seem to do... I think the only thing they are lacking compared to pill form is iron. They have less iron in them, but you can get a separate supplement for that.

ETA: Also, I had to hide my PNVs when the fam came over so they wouldn't start asking questions. All my friends and family can get pregnant by accident at the drop of a hat. Stick out tongue

  • Vitafusion gummies (from Target)! Delish.

  • My doctor gave me a ton of free samples and one of them was called Pregnitude, its like powder that you dissolve in a cup of water and drink it. Absolutely no taste :)

    Good luck!

I've been taking Vitafusion PreNatal with DHA and Folic Acid gummy vitamins since we started TTC. They don't have Iron in them, discussed with my doctor and he said that was okay for right now. I have a difficult time with pills so that is why I went with the gummies and they are yummy!

    All of this.

  • I'm taking Trader Joe's brand - no upset tummy to report! I always take with a meal. Big Smile

  • I take big horsey pill ones, lol.

If you take the chewables you may need an additional supplement as the  chewables don't have the recommended dose of folic acid, at least the ones I looked at didn't.

I would just take the pill with a big glass of water and food.

  • I also take the VitaFusion gummy vitamins. They taste fine and are super easy to take. No sickness at all. I can't take pills at all so this was a blessing for me to find.
  • I take the target gummie PNVs.  They actually taste really good for a vitamin.
  • I take the Women's One A Day combo pack with dinner so it's not on an empty stomach.
  • I've been taking the Nature Made B Complex gummie vitamins. They have B6, B12, and folic acid (and a few other vitamins). I chose these bc vitamins with calcium and vit D seem to give me uti's. Good luck!

I take Spring Valley, too. No problems swallowing them, and I haven't noticed any queasiness.

I use the spring valley brand from Walmart too. I have been taking them for almost 4 months and they are easy to swallow and seem to have the same amounts of vitamins as the name brand/prescription ones. My friend did the chewable prenatals when she was pregnant and she said they tasted horrible. If you can I would recommend finding ones you can swallow if they taste as bad as she said they do.

  • Welcome! I also take the Vitafusion gummies. It is the iron that nauseates most people. They generally won't put iron in the gummies because they are worried a kid will take them and OD on iron.
  • I got REALLY bad heartburn from the Nature Made PNVs so I switched to the CVS brand equivlient to Vitafusion PreNatal gummy vitamins. I got them on bogo, they taste good, and no heartburn :)
