Worst, 2002, I didn't eat and drank too much. I ended up throwing up the entire night...the first and last time that ever happened.
This year we will probably stay home and go to bed early. So much fun!
Best: NYE 1999. I spent it with my best friend waiting out "Y2K", lol. We drank sparkling cider and had frozen pizza. Those were the days!
Worst: NYE 2010 (see sig.)
NYE now has such negative connotations to me. This year we will probably go to an early dinner and then come home to watch movies/cuddle/go to bed early. DH will do his best to keep me distracted but the only thing that will do the trick is just putting the day behind me.
Worst: 2009, the first with my DH. We went to one of his friend's house and spent the night playing a strategy game I hated and listening to him gloat because he was winning. Then a few days later he contacted DH and told him they should talk about whether or not I was 'the one' for him. It didn't end there, and DH and he are no longer friends, thank goodness.
Best: Last year. We stayed in, drank a little too much, and played sex games all night. Best. Ever.
Worst was 1999. Caught BF cheating on me. It seemed like a big deal at the time.
This year we fly home at 4 from our 3 weeks of Christmas travel. We have to visit with my dad, then have a 2 hour drive home. We will likely be in bed by 9 or 10!
Best and worst was 2008. It was my best new years because I was finally with DH after a long 2 and a half years of being apart. It was the worst because it was the first new years with out my best friend (she died in a car accident in August of 2007).
This new year I will spend with DH and my family at their house unless DS gets cranky than it will just be us 3 and the TV.
Best 2002, went with my sorority sisters into the city. We got a hotel room, all dolled up and danced the night away at a club.
Worst, honestly they aren't much fun since meeting DH. We always go to a hotel with friends, which that part is fun. But since we are in a safe place with no driving he always drinks way too much. I'm not a big drinker, so I watch him make a fool of himself, often hurting himself by doing something dumb or breaking something from doing something dumb... eh...
Thankfully we are staying home this year, so DH won't drink himself crazy. It might be a more memorable NYE for me, us hanging out as a family.
Best - 1999 I was in college and working at a music store located on one of the busiest streets in my city. I had the key and the security code so me a several of the employees took champaigne and food up on the roof of the building. We watched all the crazy people out on the street at midnight thinking that Y2K was going to bring everything to a halt.
Worst - 2000 I had just broken up with a boyfriend who was friends with most of my friends. The reason I broke up with him was because he went on a date with my sister. So I didn't want to hang out with most of my friends or my family.
