Femara vs. Clomid?

Hello Ladies,

Your opinion matters to me! I am hoping to hear from women whom have tried Femara and gotten pregnant.

As you can see in my siggie I have been told by my dr. to move on from clomid. Outside of IVF or injectables I am thinking about trying Femara hoping for success there the less expensive/invasive route. I guess you would say Clomid "did what it was supp to for me" from a follicle/ovulation standpoint twice, but all resulted in BFN.

I would love to hear some some success stories from you ladies that got your BFP from Femara...and especially from those that didn't on clomid.

I am needing some postitive insight/motivation. Thanks you ladies and best of luck to all of you with your pregnancies!

This baby is a Femara baby. I was also on Clomid prior. It worked for ovulation but did not result in a pregnancy.  It's one took 4 cycles on Femara and the 4th cycle we also did IUI. The nice thing about Femara vs Clomid is that there are no length restrictions for Femara and it also has less side effects than Clomid (i.e. uterine lining thickness and vaginal dryness). GL!

No problem at all! I've been in your shoes (it took us 2.5 years for this baby) so I know how it feels to need hope and to hear about others who have gone through something similar. Best wishes to you!!

My #2 RE told me that femara and clomid have pretty much the same results, if they both work for you.  So, 1 could not work but the other could (usually clomid fails and femara works, not the other way) but if they both work you get basically the same result.  If you move on from clomid I'd go to injects.  You'll get a better response.  I did 2 cycles of femara and got 6 mature eggs both times (like 13ish eggs total each time).  I did the least amount of injectables possible and got 34 eggs - 29 were completely matured.
    TTC since Aug 2011, RE since May 2012. Dx: PCOS,endo, postprandial hypoglycemia DH: SA 1 - low everything, 2- low everything, 3 - good, but WBC, 4 - lost and/or damaged at lab, 5 - low everything July - Letrozole + TI = BFN Aug - letrozole #2 + TI = BFN Sep - NEW RE!! YAY!!!! Move to IVF w/ICSI - ER on Nov 28 - 34 eggs! 2 day report - 26 successfully fertilized! 13 of 26 frozen at 3 days. 5dt of 2 best remaining eggs! BFP on HPT 6dp5dt Beta #1 10dp5dt-471 Beta #2 13dp5dt - 1250

    Good to know, thank you!

6 mature follies is a lot, I was getting only 1 on clomid, I think the second time I got 2. I'm curious, if you have 29 mature folies do they cancel that cylce?

    Thanks!

Ohm I'm sorry Audaciousarica, I just noticed on your siggie you meant with your IVF.

My RE was thinking about moving me on to injectable cycle without IVF. I'm not sure in all honestly if I even want to go that route and just opt for IVF cause of the cost beenfit analysis. In your honest opinon, how invasive did you think IVF was?

    Thank you for your response!

At GhostMonkey, thank you for your insight. All of these monitored IUI medicated cycles sure do get pricy so sometimes it's easy to want to "jump ahead", I still am hoping trying femara mght result in a BFP still and is much more cost effective still than injetable cycles.
