Can I just have a catheter for the next 3 weeks?

Ugh, I'm so sick of getting up to pee every 20-30 minutes!  I can make it about 2 hours while asleep, but not that much while awake.  DD seems to think it's fun to play with my bladder.  I know I don't really want one, but the thought of just having a tube that will drain my pee constantly sounds SO tempting right now!

Re: Can I just have a catheter for the next 3 weeks?

  • I am so with you! I get jealous of all my patients with their catheters. Pah! I made the joke a few weeks back that I just need a catheter and a "walking" epidural for the rest of my pregnancy to help with the back pain. I'm blessed that my back pain has actually gotten better on its own, probably due to me forcing myself to take it a little easier.

  • Haha... 2 hours while asleep?! In the first 4 hours I'm in bed I'm up about 5 times.
  • Ugh. I know what you mean, but in case you need a reminder of how awful they feel, I just had one done so they could get a "good, clean specimen" at L&D this evening. It still hurts hours later.

  • I asked DH last night if he thought my OB would let me self cath before bed, and remove in AM.  Ha.
  • Towards the end with DD, I was getting up every hour all night long. Then when I was in labor with her, I caved and got the epidural just so I could get a foley. I was so over getting up to pee every 20-30 minutes and having to put the monitors back on...by the time I got them back on and got semi-comfortable in the medieval torture device they called a bed, I would have to start all over again. At least with the epidural and catheter I couldn't feel the horrible bed or my bladder!
