PSA for babies that hate being in the car

If your baby hates the car get a DVD player for it ASAP. After the honeymoon newborn period Jack would SCREAM bloody murder all car ride all the time. I know he doesn't sleep much but he NEVER cries or screams. He just wants to be awake or is grunty/fussy. Anyway, grandma and grandpa got him one and we put in a baby Einstein movie. I just did 3.5 hrs of errands without a single meltdown. I have serious anxiety about leaving the house with him because of it and only used 1.5 tanks of gas the whole 13 weeks I was off because of it. I feel freedom now! So I couldn't care less what the AAP says about TV time. Get this if you have the same issue! :]

  • I'm glad you found something that works & you're able to get out some!

DD was hating the car, too, but I clipped a toy she likes to the car seat & she plays with that now. It's really helped cut down on her screaming in the car.

  • Yay for freedom!  We have this mirror that has a remote activated light and music.  I am so glad someone gave it to me at a shower because I would have bought the plain mirror and now it is the only thing that keeps peace on car rides!

  • We may have to try this. It got so bad with LO that my husband used wire to rig up her fisher price aquarium to the back seat. That seemed to work, along with lots of toys and ensuring she's fed, changed, etc. Basically everything has to be perfect for my child to ride in the car. It's exhausting.

Huh. I'd be paranoid about it falling off onto Lo. But I don't even put anything in the backseat when she's in the car.

I don't know if you recall but my firefighter H didn't even want to do a mirror or shade [doesnt have them in his car]. He installed this and made it suuuuuper secure. The fact he's ok with this is how intense this issue was for us.

That's how we were and I'd sit in the backseat with him and he'd still scream. It is exhausting.
