For you pouch feeders

Maybe a silly question

Did your LO's just get it? N has recently started to really like pouches. I've tried a few times in the past but she's shown no interest. I can't just give it to her though because she just thinks it's the best thing ever to squeeze it until it's oozing out of the top. Is there a trick to getting her not to do this? Did your kids just get it, or do I just need to keep practicing with her? Or maybe your LOs are pouch oozers too :P

Also, this is probably going to be a post and run as I'm headed out for Christmas at my mom's. Thanks guys.

Re: For you pouch feeders

  • Gator used to just squeeze them and make a mess when I first gave them to her. I stopped giving them to her for awhile and tried again after her 1st birthday and she went right into sucking everything out of it with no problem.

  • I hand them to her and she's pretty good with them, but she still squeezes it everywhere occasionally.  There are also spoons that you can attach to the pouch to make it easier until they get it.

We just started the pouch and for now I hold it and she sucks it out. I have it to her 1 time and she squeezed it all over herself. Learned me a lesson.

Ditto exactly. Maybe he'll learn some day.

  • I have 2 pouch feeders over here. Every time I gave it to my DS Id tell him not to squeeze it and Id put it right to his mouth. He used to squeeze it everywhere, but now he's fine with it. I had to be consistent with both my kids telling them not to squeeze it. Now I can hand them to both of my kids and they are free to eat them as they please. He rarely had any spillage anymore.
  • I reserve them for when E is really hungry. Then she will just put it straight in her mouth with no issues. If I give it to her when she isn't really hungry, she'll just squeeze it and play with it.

Her newest thing is wanting the lids to screw it on and off.  She'll act like she really wants the pouch so I hand it to her and she just reaches up to me for the lid. It's frustrating when she won't eat it, bc those suckers are expensive.

I've thought about doing the reusable pouches with homemade puree, but I keep thinking she won't be using them much longer. We just recently started using them again, because Nora hasn't been taking her veggies in well.

    I bought this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=15439726

Best thing ever! My kids love squeeze packs. My 2.5 yr old is very much into them still. I put their yogurt into squeeze packs everyday because its just easier. My kids think they are the real deal, I already purchased the yogurt and I don't have to deal with a mess. It's a win win for everyone! They have a reusable pouch for this system too, I'm just waiting to get my hands on it. It's out of stock everywhere.
  • Thanks, kagl, I bought it. I know we'll use it with her new found finicky veggie eating habit.

Yay! We love ours! Like I said, I use it practically everyday.
  • Thanks everyone. Today I gave her a pouch that was over half gone and she did okay with that. I guess we'll just keep working on it.
