Car seat canopy?

I was looking into these b/c I was given a graco carseat from a friend who only used it for about 4 months and was never in an accident or anything. Problem is I hate the design and it has a few stains from sitting in their garage for a few months that I can't get out. I would just go buy the one I want but I don't want to hurt my friends feelings and My husband doesn't want to spend $100+ on a carseat we will only use a few months b/c I don't like the design and some small stains. Are these things from here safe to use? Has anyone tried them? Are they worth it? I'm looking at the whole caboodle package if that makes a difference

    No they are not safe. If you just buy the canopy, which goes OVER the car seat and acts as a cover for the weather then that is fine but anything that goes between baby and car seat or between the straps, as an after market seat cover does then no it's not safe.

    You can buy a new seat cover directly from the company. If it's a Graco just give Graco a call, tell them the information about the car seat (you will need numbers off of it) and you can buy a new seat cover. You can also do that online I know. Same for other companies. THAT will be safe but any after market products IN the seat are not safe (strap covers, head rest, bundle me, etc....). Again, if the car seat came with those things then that means it was crash tested and approved and it's ok to use. So for example my infant car seat came with a head support and covers for the straps so they don't dig into baby's neck. They are ok to use because they came with the seat. Anything else that goes in the car seat and is an aftermarket product is not safe or ok to use.

    Right this is why I thought they might not be safe. I didn't know that I could buy new seat covers from the company, this is awesome I am going to look into this right now. Thank you!
