Do you have a specific play area for LO?

S/O from my topic below about toy storage...I am curious to see if anyone else has a specific play area for their LOs or if they keep all LO's things and toys in thier room.

We use our upstairs living room as the 'baby area'. We have baby gates blocking off the kitchen/dining area and the stairs. DS has free range to play in that huge area and we have his toys and books there too.

It's not tacky looking (except for the giant ball pit he got for xmas lol). We still have couches and a tv stand and can still use it as a grown up area when LO is in bed and if we have guests over I am not embarassed because when we clean it up and put the toys away, it looks like a normal living room.

Anyway, where do you keep all your LO's toys? Do they have a specific play area or just their room?

DD plays in the living room, we have it gated off and baby proofed. She also goes to her room, our room, and the dining room with us but always under close supervision as they are not baby-proofed.

All her toys are in one corner of the living room on her foam mat. She usually dras them all over the place, but that is her corner.

Right now our living room is full of toys and baby stuff. Matthew generally plays in the living room with us and we swap out his toys from his room every so often to keep it fresh. I wish we had a play room, but there aren't enough rooms in my house and anyway I like to be able to do things in the main part of the house while he is playing in the living room.

We have a play room for Skyler so most of her toys are in there, I just need to get a gate for the door so I can leave her in there for a minute if I need to use the restroom or let the dogs out. We have her pnp in our bedroom with toys when we need to keep her contained while we are getting ready in the morning or if she needs to sleep in there with us. In the living room we have a bucket of toys and her exersaucer and she spreads all her stuff out in there while I am getting things done.

We don't have any toys in her bedroom and I hope to keep it that way. I want her bedroom to just be a calm place where she sleeps.

L plays in our living room and all of his toys are in that area as well. We have a ottoman storage holder so that we can stash all the tiny toys. This area is completley baby proofed with cords hidden, tv mounted, etc. The entire upstairs is also baby proofed. He has a few toys in his room, but we mostly use his room for reading and sleeping.

With the exception of the PNP in the bedroom (which I may be doing tonight!), this is exactly us.

We have a big family room and that's where all of Eli's toys are. It's also where we spend our time. It has the TV and stuff, plus the computer room is right off of it. When I'm in another room, Eli follows and hangs out, but the toys pretty much stay where they are. Our basement has a huge family room that I'd like to turn into a play room for when he's older since my sewing room is down there.

Most the kids toys are in the living room, some in the basement also. I try to only keep stuffed animals and books in the bedrooms. The share a room and I don't want Cedric to be playing instead of sleeping. Looking at books and playing with some sutffed animals I am ok with.

The living room is our main play area. We have cube storage containers (not kid ones, ones that match our decor) for toy storage. The kids both keep toys in their rooms too. The exception to the living room play area is that our rule is that if you don't want other people to play with your toys (baby sisters love train tracks from Thomas train sets!) it must go in your room. Anything in the living room is fair game for everybody to play with.

Ugh- I wish we did! We have toys in our office (train table, some books & puzzles), and also in our living room. Most of the toys are in the living room. DD also has some things up in her room. We have some of the bigger items in the basement.

Ava spends 99% of her day in our living room and a little alcove off the living room. All of her toys are in these rooms in fabric bins, they are baby proofed and gated off (the gate currently is a large tv box, filled up with some blankets to make it heave as it is a really ackward space. She basically has no toys in her bedroom, and like a PP said, I would like to keep it that way but it depends on the layout of our next home/apartment will be.

We have a room that used to be a 3 season porch and is now a full den. It's got french doors that lead into the main living room, and a small doorway that leads into a side hall. We've covered the floor with foam letter squares and taken out any sharp-edged furniture. There's a bin for her toys there, and this weekend we're installing a gate on the small doorway. That way we can hang out in there with her (two big comfy couches) or leave her there for a few moments to go to the bathroom/make a bottle/check mail/etc.
