Plans? CODE: 2013

Now that December holidays are done, what are your plans for NYE? Anything fun?

Last year we sat at home with an 8 week old, watching movies in our jammies, and sipping champagne out of beer steins....CLASSY! This year we have no plans, but my guess is we will be doing the same as last year since my sister is having her birthday party on the eve of the 29th, so we are already getting a sitter that night. And we are leaving for vacation the 6th so we will probably be as low key as possible until then.

  • It's my anniversary :D I think we might go out to lunch that day or something. I doubt we'll do anything at night because finding a sitter on NYE is a pain. DH got me Harry Potter DVD's 1-5 and we watched #1 last night. We will probably watch #2 or 3 then. :)  DH has NYE and NYD off so there's going to be a lot of relaxing going on!

Happy anniversary! We may be going out. I hope we can, because we didn't get to the last time we made plans out together. We need adult time together.

Thanks :D I hope you can get a sitter. I know what a bummer it is not to get adult time!

  • Nothing if I can help it. I've never been a fan of going out on NYE. Even back in my young party girl days. Every drunken idiot is out on NYE, and it's just too much. I'll be happy to stay home, drink some wine, and watch the ball drop with DH.

It's my anniversary, too. We have pre-op for my RCS and we'll probably go to a movie. I just want to stay at home and hang out with dh and dd. I am lame.
  • Last year we actually brought DD to a party and she slept in the Ergo the whole time. It was pretty fun! This year we don't have any plans and I'm not too concerned since I've always hated NYE.

I do however want to do the Polar Plunge again on New Years Day...it's a jump in the ocean. I did it 5 years in a row before I got pregnant.

  • NYE nothing really.
NYD, we do a sleigh ride. We have been doing it the last five years. Whole family and all.

  • We are going out to dinner with 5 other couples.  I already made hair and nail appointments for that day, since I can't drink, I want to at least look purdy!  Mom and dad are going to be watching Li... they have a 5:30 dinner reservation (that has nothing to do with them watching the baby, they would have had that res no matter what).

  • We're trying to decide between doing a repeat of last year (quiet night in with my grandparents, who leave after dinner, and parents) or going to a dressy party a friend is having that we always miss and getting my parents to babysit.  The thing is, we're going to a holiday get together on the 28th, my birthday dinner out with one group of friends on the 29th and a potluck birthday dinner in with another group of friends on the 30th.  I'm not sure I can handle 4 nights in a row of socializing, plus it would mean putting Lily to bed and then leaving her with my parents 3 out of 4 nights.  I think we'll probably end up doing the quiet night in. . .

  • I'm going to whine for a minute. I was just told on Friday that I have to work 14 hours on NYD. I am beyond grumpy about it.  So no plans here. It's in the middle of the week anyways and all of our friends are 2 hours away... But still I wanted a day home to relax with MH and G. Boo.

  • I want to go out with my Sorority/Fraternity friends for supper with DH, it's a tradition we've been doing for 7 or so years, I've missed it a few times but I'm hoping we can get a sitter and go since we both have the night off.  My MIL has the day off so I'm hoping she will babysit, but depends on how early she has to work the next day.  I'd love to have some friends over to play cards after, but it seems all our friends are all married with kids and they'd have to get sitters too.. :/ Sucks getting old!

  • We're heading to our timeshare in the desert for some good food and hopefully some relaxation. Now that LBB is STTN I'm tempted to ring in the New Year in the hot tub with a bottle of champagne.

  • We're co-hosting a party at a friend's house.  We eat, play games, then once the ball drops, we clean up and head home.  I'm not sure what I'm making yet, but probably something desserty.

  • Last year we went out to dinner with the inlaws but we were home by 9 asleep by 10 and awoke at midnight to hear others partying around us. This year we may do the same but probably will stay up since little one sleeps late. NYD we'll watch the Rose Parade on tv. DD waves to everyone on tv cuz she sees they're waving at her. Love it.

  • We will be staying home. One of my dogs freaks horribly with the fireworks people shoot off around here and she will run off if we are not home. Also, I have no idea where we would even go if we did go out...its not like the town are jumping around here right now.

  • I love house parties or dinner parties on NYE. Last year we had three other couples (we had one pregnant and three newborns sleeping at our place) for dinner and they all left just after twelve.

This year we are either having one couple over, or possibly combining forces with another couple and doing a dinner with about 8-10 people. We would just put G down at their house, or ours if we do it at our place. Best way to spend the holiday, especially since I'm sober this year, wah wah.
