DS isn't sleeping well at all lately (due to acombination of teething, head cold and now just plain bad nighttime habits). Which makes him (and me, and dh) super cranky and tired all day.
This in turn leads to ds not tolerating crowds well because he's so easily overstimulated -plus he's a light sleeper and won't nap around noise. We're heading to 2 dinners tomorrow. I figure it'll be ok at my family's because most of them aren't baby people and they'll leave ds alone. But when we head to ILs everyone is going to be all up in DS's business wanting to hold him and play with him and I know he's just going to cry like 85% of the time we're there. Can't wait for the holidays to be over which makes me sad because Christmas is usually my fav time of year.
Re: Anyone else dreading christmas?
I am sort of anxious about how DS is going to handle things today. We're going to Mass at 4 this afternoon, then over to my parents' for a quick visit with my family, then over to my in-laws' for a party and a visit from Santa. I am sure by the time we are done DS will be cranky and exhausted. He hasn't slept well the last three nights so yea for me. Then tomorrow my family is coming to our house for presents and breakfast, and we'll be getting underway right about the time DS likes to go down for a nap. Then it's back to the in-laws' for Christmas dinner.
I am now starting to wish I'd taken Wednesday off from work - but it's too busy at work for that.

I'm definitely dreading the nap thing. DS is a little touchy right now. He just got over a stomach bug a couple of days ago and he has four teeth coming in on top (poor kid!) so he has already been a grumpy pain today. He also doesn't eat well when there is a lot going on so it adds to his all-around demeanor.
We did our little family Christmas last night because we will be out all night tonight and all day tomorrow. DS got very overstimulated/fussy when we were opening presents. There was just too much to see and do. It didn't help that he would unwrap something and then take it away to move on to the next present...I don't really blame the kid. I'm worried about how he will be at other people's houses since he was like that in our own home.
I think we are going to bring out the good old moby wrap. He used to take all his naps in a wrap and while I don't think he will get a long nap in it at this age he might get 20 minutes or so. That might be enough for him to push through.
Christmas is usually a very busy time for our family. My parents are divorced so we usually have a lot of different family things going on. Top that off with Christmas day being my husband's (and his twin sister's) birthday....it's a lot. This kid is just going to have to get used to it being the busiest time of the year I guess! ;-)
Then all of DH's family left because they know I'm crazy about bedtime since it's the only think DS does on a schedule. Meanwhile, my parents, who always outstay their welcome were here another hour and a half after everyone else. Mom needed a tea, Dad had a beer to finish, try that jacket on, etc etc. I wanted to tell them to go home already but I'm terrible at being forward with them.
So glad it's over!

Our xmas dinner was pretty disastrous at first. DS cried for the first 2 hours of it. He was past his bedtime and REFUSED to nap. Once he had his fit, he got his second wind and was OK the second part of the night but it was so stressful at first. He usually goes to bed for the night at 7:30 and last night went to sleep at 11pm when we got home. He took 3 extra long naps today.
It was just the four of us for Christmas, but it was still kind of a disaster. The grandparents bought WAY too many gifts for the kids. DS was on a present-high all morning, then he crashed and became super cranky the rest of the day. Plus DH is sick (man-cold), and DD doesn't nap. At all. And we were trying to pack for our road trip to visit family, heading east right along with winter storm Euclid tomorrow.
So, yeah. I feel like a Grinch, but I did not really enjoy Christmas this year.
