6 weeks- spotting

Hi all,

I am 6 weeks today.  Told our family at Christmas (now I am worried) and have been feeling pregnant- sore breasts, nauseous, tired...

I went to the bathroom awhile ago and noticed a small amount of brownish blood when I wiped.  I am obsessing now and have seen a little each time I go.  No cramps or red blood. but this is my first pregnancy and I am freaking out.  I know that there is nothing i can do at the moment but wait and see, but I was hoping for some reassurance...

I have not had my first doctor appointment yet- it is scheduled for 1/2.  If I am still spotting tomorrow I will call and see if they can get me in there sooner..

Anyone else have similar things happening???

Re: 6 weeks- spotting

  • If you're concerned, I would just call the doctors office and talk to your OB or the nurse. They may ask you to come in, may have you relax/rest for a day, or may have some other advice.
However, please know that spotting is very common in the first trimester, and is not always a sign of something bad. Try to relax, not worry, and if you the spotting increases or you start to cramp, please call your OB right away.

  • What you are describing is normal.
  • It is very normal, but very nerve racking for sure. I bled during my 6th week and when I called my doc they wanted me to come in for an ultrasound. For me, it turned out to be a subchorionic hemorrhage, and it's not affecting my baby at all. In fact, I bled a lot of bright red blood yesterday - but it's typical with this type of prognosis. Hang in there. It is probably nothing, but call your doctor to let them rule anything out...

  • Hi!

I know how scary this can be- I went through it back in Sept. And now again with this current little one.

I just had some brown spotting Monday and Tuesday when I would wipe. I called today and they got me in. Did an exam and US and everything looks good! They said it was some old blood, and can be common.

Try not to stress, it can be normal. But I think it is good to call and they will def get you in sooner!

  • I had this in my first pregnancy. It's definitely scary at first. As long as it's brown, don't worry at all. Call your doctor if it will make you feel more at ease and take a deep breath! Try not to stress. GL

  • I've bled more than not so far this pregnancy-- check out my chart!. Like I said in my intro, I thought I had my period last Sunday, so the BFP was a shock. I had no spotting for a few days, but it came back today so I gave in to my freak out and got a beta drawn today (and will get a second Friday). We shall see.
