Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What is your baby's nap schedule?

I feel like DS #2 is all over the map. he is a super light sleeper, plus we are always on the go with DS#1, so I feel like he is not getting enough sleep. He sleeps AWFUL at night: up every 2 hours or MORE, so I am wondering if his lack of naps is making it worse at night.

FYI-We cosleep, so him CIO is not really an option for night waking, unfortunately. (House is going on the market in the spring :)) In the meantime he is waking us ALL up all night!

Re: What is your baby's nap schedule?

  • Here's DS's current (the last couple weeks) schedule, give or take 10-15 minutes here and there for shorter naps. He is 6 months old:

Wakes at 7am and up for an hour.

    Nap #1: 8am-10am

    Nap #2: 12pm-1pm

    Nap $3: 3:30-5pm

    Bedtime: 7:30pm

He still does 1 MOTN feeding anywhere between 3-5am.

  • 2 naps daily, 1 morning & 1 mid afternoon. I avoid naps after 4pm because DD had to have her sleep schedule adjusted to sttn.

bedtime is around 7:30/8pm depending on her showing signs of tiredness. I have a schedule but I am laid back, except when it comes to naps after 4pm. That is an absolute no for her but each baby is different.

Also I did cosleep for a bit. honestly the best thing for her was going to her crib with a dim nightlight & sleep sheep. I had to let her cio (no more than 5mins. 10 max) at first because she was so tired from not having a rhthym. Took a few days but she & I are ever grateful ;).

Best thing I did was call my pediatrician for advice.

  • 2 naps: one around 11:30 and the second around 3:30. They last about 45 minutes. Some afternoons I can't get her down in the afternoon so she falls asleep nursing around 5. On those days we push bedtime back.

  • on our normal schedule day, he gets three naps...

    awake around 6

    8:00-9:30

    1:00-2:30

    4:30-5:15

    Bedtime is 6:30

but if we are busy, the schedule goes right out the window and he naps whenever he can or when he looks tired. :)

  • When DS was your LO's age, he was still waking us up frequently for paci replacement. Ugh. I'm not sure what you can do to work on that when co-sleeping but I know some books do address it.

As far as naps, when DS was your age, the longest he could go between naps was 2 hours. He has always been a cat-napper, but lately he is finally starting to nap for an hour at a time sometimes. (Can I get a hallelujah? haha) His wake-up time varied widely, so I just always made sure to keep track of the time. (I love the Similac Strong Moms app for this.)

  • She's been napping consistently enough that I believe it's a routine now, at least I'm crossing my fingers. Her first nap is anywhere between 10:30 and 11:00. Her second nap is between 3:30 and 5. Her first nap is usually about an hour. Her second about 30 minutes. She goes to bed between 89 and wakes up for the day at 7:30. She's still waking up throughout the night multiple times though.
