Boxing Day Roll Call

I can't remember why, but I decided to work today.

So, who's here to entertain me?

Re: Boxing Day Roll Call

  • DH and I are both off, but it was my morning to get up. Even though when it's HIS morning to get up, he always ends up waking me by 9 a.m., it's now going on 10, and he is still in bed.

Not sure what we're doing once he finally drags his butt out of bed.

  • It's completely dead here, too.  Apparently I'm the only person who came in over break.  In a few hours I'm going to start getting spooked out by the quiet.

  • Here. I'm hoping the skeleton crew of co-workers do not show up today b/c of snow/ice and I can play on the internets all.day.

ETA: Spoke to soon, two ppl arrived. Ugh.

  • I'm here...working, but not really.

Can someone tell me what Boxing Day really is?  We used to go up to Windsor every Boxing Day to gamble and no one ever really knew.  And we were in CANADA!

You know how Canadians are so polite?  It's because they save up all their aggression, over the entire year, for one magical day:  Boxing Day.

On Boxing Day, you can go to the one person you hate the most, challenge them to a boxing match and take out all of your anger.  It's very therapeutic BUT - the catch is, that you have to go back to being polite until the next Boxing Day.  And that is Boxing Day.

    (I don't actually know).

  • I'm around, but I have a feeling my afternoon is going to be busy at work, so I'll probably be in and out.

  • I'm here.  Trying to save my ETO for my maternity leave.  Boo.

Wino, if you don't feel like reading wikipedia, I think Boxing day is the day for Canadians to box up all of their gifts (and maybe Christmas decorations).  I'm pretty sure we need this holiday in the US.
