LO waking up 45 mins into night sleep

So our LO is almost 5 mnths and the last 4 nights has woken up EXACTLY 45 minutes after going to bed. Nothing in his routine has changed--he usually sleeps from 7:30pm-6am or later and now he wakes up screaming. I know it's a sleep phase problem, but no idea how to fix it. Anyone else? Ideas?

  • I can't get past him sleeping from
    7:30 to 6 or later....wow.

Yes it's probably just a phase. Does he go right back down or is it a fight?

  • Cries for 10 minutes and then goes back down. We are letting him CIO for those 10 minutes--as he is obvioulsy not hungry (just fed) and just been changed.

  • My DD does the same thing almost every night for about a month now. If her eyes are open that means she's not going back to sleep unless she is rocked. Then she usually goes back down for a few hours. She definitely doesn't sleep as long a s your LO but she is a still a peanut and weighs only about 10 lbs if that so I am not expecting any normal sleep patterns for awhile.

No advice but I feel your pain. DS has been waking at least every two hours for the past month and a half.

    This.

  • Sounds like a phase. My DD isn't STTN either yet :(

Definitely a phase - he will outgrow it.  I think you are doing the right thing by letting him CIO for those 10 minutes.  He'll learn to fall asleep on his own and won't wake up screaming anymore.

  • Babywise calls it the 45 minute intruder. It's normal.
