Nurseries and Baby Gear

~*~gimmietimmies ~*~

I want to say I remember you talking about the Chicco Liteway and the new Liteway Plus that comes out in January. Have you actually seen the plus? Is the only significant difference between the two how the Plus accepts an infant seat? My H and I are starting to research gear, and I'm hoping to pick out (or at least narrow down) a stroller and car seat while we're on break (both teachers). Any thoughts?FWIW, I would like to baby wear early on and would love to have just one stroller. We live in the suburbs, so the stroller would be mainly for use in stores, walks around the block, very rarely on grass and no other harsh terrain.

And, if I'm misremembering, write me off as crazy and forget this post ever happened.

  • Dude, you're totally losing it! Kidding. No, I don't think it was me, but it was in a thread I know I was in, probably about lightweight compact strollers and small cars or something. Chiccos arent that common here, so I've not seen this one yet. I watches the demo of this, and it is a bit more versatile than most lightweights. The only things I'd be picky about is no full recline (I like to have this option, I'm not a fan of using the car seat outside the car for extended periods), small wheels (if you've got no or little snow, or only using it on flat surfaces, then not an issue)' and the basket access.

I would consider this one, but I'd personally want to play with it on the store. I know I'd be trying to shove bags in the basket to see if it would work and push it around the store.  I don't think we'd see this one before January here, more like may or June, if they even send it here at all.

ETA: I watched some of the videos for both this and the regular lightway. So essentially the plus being able to take the Keyfit is the main difference. I also peeked throught the instruction manuals, and it's interesting. The plus says you should use the car seat in the stroller until about six months, and the regular lightway says suitable from birth, yet neither have the flat recline that any other stroller rated from birth has. Go figure.

Thank you for taking the time even though I'm losing it and misremembering. :-) The bolded part at the end is something that had confused me as well.  The wheel issue doesnt bither me as we typically get litte to no snow (watch next winter be the exception). And since we can't see the new in stores yet, I'm hoping to be able to use the older one as much as possible for comparison.

Now I'm going to have to go back and find that thread...I know someone was raving about Liteway and maybe had seen it at a baby show or something.

Anyway, thanks again. I really appreciate it!

My Chicco Liteway has a completely flat recline, I am not sure where this information is coming from??  Ours is 3 years old, so unless they have changed something since then, the Liteway definitely reclines all the way flat.  One of the selling points of the stroller in my mind.

Yep, I checked it out on the website, it still fully reclines.  And they have some pretty cool new colors... I saw the Plum at church yesterday and really liked it : ).  Like I said in the other post, I have never seen the Liteway Plus in person, but it looks pretty much awesome in the video on the website : ).

The instructions from the lightway plus on the Chicco website. The info I was looking at with the lightway was from a blog review on the 2012 model, and they demoed the recline, and it went down, but not fully flat like I expected from when I last saw it. I was a bit surprised given that e erythema else I read said what you can do, lie flat. That is one of my criteria too (for new stroller with newborn), must lie flat. If I can find the video again, I'll link it. I'm on iPad right now and c&p to TB sucks.
