Pregnant after a Loss

sleeping on your side

When are you supposed to start sleeping on your side? I know at one point you are supposed to avoid the back but I wasn't sure when.

Re: sleeping on your side

  • I think it's around 24w or so ... but the bottom line is that your body will tell you it's not comfortable, and that's when you know it's time.

  • It's actually more like 16, but ditto the PP.. your body will tell you when it's time. I slept on my left side so much when I was pregnant that I still have trouble sleeping any other way now.

  • I am such a stomach sleeper but im trying to stay on my side. So its still okay to sometimes be on my stomach?

  • I've heard16 weeks.

Ironic that I can sleep on my stomach but not my back ?!

  • I've also heard 16 weeks. ?Also, I also heard "your body will tell you when it's no longer good" but mine never did...even at 40 weeks I slept soundly on my back, much as I tried to stay on my side. ?Body pillows help.

  • can't sleep on your back after 16 week and left side is best. I still sleep on both sides, spending most of the night on my left side and then switching somewhere in early morning.?

  • I just read in YPWBW that at 16 weeks you should try not to sleep on your back anymore.  Since I hit 16 weeks on Friday, it has been quite a chore to get comfortable since I tend to fall asleep on my side, but wake up on my back.

I am going to ask my dr at my appt tomorrow though.
