WWYD?

So about a month ago I went Christmas shopping with a girlfriend and got DD1 a sled that is to be from Santa. I thought I had it well hidden in the back of our van, but after picking the girls up from daycare a few weeks ago, DD1 spotted it and started asking about it. I said it was for grandma and she seemed to have moved on. I covered up the sled and she never noticed it again and hasn't asked about it since.

So should I still make it from Santa? Do you think she will remember? I just don't want to spoil any of the fun of Santa for her.

  • I would still make it from Santa.  Chances are she won't put two and two together, and will still love the sled.

  • Tell her Santa got it for her, and if she asks about grandma, tell her you thought it was such a great idea when Santa got her one, that you got one for grandma. Then quickly change the subject. Or, you could say that Santa made a special trip to your house before Christmas and dropped it off so that you could put it together before she opened it, since the elves were super busy this year. That would have made sense to me at that age.

  • I would still make it from Santa. If she brings up seeing it, you can say that Santa must have seen that she liked it and decided to bring her one.  If she was a couple years older I think she would question it; at this age I think she'll just accept your explanation if she does ask.
