How to stop comfort nursing?

Anyone have any tips for how to avoid comfort nursing? I normally don't mind so much, but some times it kills me. I'm not sure how much more my nipples can take now that she's biting on top of everything else.

Last night all the wind we have here woke her up and she refused to go back to sleep in her crib. I ended up staying up all night and holding her. She woke up every time I unlatched her and tried to lay her down so I ended up nursing her for like 6 hours. I think my nipples are going to jump off my chest and run away.

Re: How to stop comfort nursing?

  • OH NO!!!!! im sorry. I cant give any advise b/c i dont BF anymore but my LO does take a bottle in the MOTN and it seems like thats the ONLY way to get him back down. Then, as soon as I lay him in his crib he screams! So, I end up bringing him into our bed.......we are now wishing we never did that b/c now he will only sleep in our bed, so I can at least sympathize........

  • In the No Cry Sleep Solution book by Elizabeth Pantley she has a method to stop it.
  • Thanks. I'll have to buy that book.
