Please don't touch my kid

SMF: Please don't touch my kid

We will be flying across the country soon, and I plan on wearing DS.  I know that this makes us some kind of circus attraction and strangers will be coming up to us and talking to DS and trying to touch him.  But he gets sick so easily that I really need to be careful and keep that from happening.

So I'm looking to arm myself with a couple good, short, polite, but firm, ways to tell people to not touch him. Got anything?

Re: Please don't touch my kid

  • I'd like to hear some as well. What surprisingly worked for us was last month DD caught a bacterial infection from someone. Don't get me started on how pissed off I was. Anyways towards the end of her antibiotics I still afraid of people touching her her catching something again. I guess how it was understood by others was that she was contagious totally wasn't it was from someone's dirty hands she ingested it so they backed of so THEY wouldn't catch anything.

Ps I'm on mobile so excuse the editing on this

I was thinking of lying and using the "he's contagious" bit too, glad to hear that worked!  I'm afraid if I say that in an airport that I may get a side-eye for traveling with a contagious kid though haha!

  • No need to say he's contagious. That'll get major side eye and probably have panicky seat mates on the plane LOL. I told people she was getting over her bacterial infection and to not touch her. They'll be the ones to ASSUME the contagiousness. Also, so that they wouldn't try to figure a way around touching my baby I would conveniently FORGET which bacteria it was and them not having any idea would be enough for them to leave baby alone. But seriously for me at the time I was terrified of my DD catching something else

  • You know I never have this problem. Maybe it's because I have a total b!tch look on my face as soon as someone looks and opens their mouth. "Are they twins?" "Yep, how'd you guess?" Lol. Maybe it comes with the multiples territory.

    This is good!
I ha a few weeks ago lining up to use change table in woman's rest room a woman pop out of urinal and touch dd's hands! I almost freaked!

Or if that Doesn't work, I swear I'm putting a shirt on dd, touch ne and my mom will punch you in the face! I should start mass producing these!

Sorry for vent! I hate it when random strangers touch baby's hands! Like wtf!!!!!!!
    lolololo
  • You may not have anything to worry about. When we flew with DD, some people would smile and talk to her, but most people were busy doing their own thing. No one tried to touch. Plus there were a ton of other babies travelling for the holidays, so it wasn't really a big deal. If someone tried it, I would just say "Sorry, he gets sick easily." and step away.
  • Ummmmmm.. I got it I got it!

    Please don't touch my kid.

    That's what I would say.

  • How about "Fck off?"

Ok but really I'd smile and say "Please don't touch my baby."

Please don't touch my kid. Simple and straight forward tends to be most effective. Honestly, if you're wearing him, that should cut down on the issue, not enhance it. I wouldn't worry about it too much, people are busy and trying to make their flights, I doubt many have time or inclination to come up to your kid.

This has not been my experience...it's like people have never seen a woman wearing her child.  Even if I wear him facing in, people come up to try to get a peek at his face.  But I hope you're right!!
