August 2011 Moms

DONE.

I need somebody to pump me up. Thankfully, Lincoln has stopped vomiting and will now nurse a little or take a sip at a time of water. The explosive diapers are only twice a day. I should be rejoicing except my nerves are totally and completely shot.

Lincoln has alternated crying and moaning for the past six hours straight. He won't allow me to sit or lay down. I have to be standing and holding him. My neck and back are aching and now I am ready to cry! Yesterday at the doctor he did an extremely thorough exam to rule out swollen organs, his ears, throat and chest are all great. I can't tell if he is in pain or all out just feels miserable.

Maybe this should be my FFFC: I was so covered in snot and about to lose it that I put him in his bed to rinse off in the shower. he eventually cried himself to sleep (we have done CIO but never, ever when he is sick.)

My heart breaks that he can't tell me what is wrong but I seriously just called Dh and said, 'Uh, you need to hurry home tonight and you need to relieve me ASAP. Also, you need to pray I get a little more compassion because I am DONE!'

Yup, mom of the year.

Re: DONE.

  • Don't beat yourself up, I've been there. You need to remind yourself that you're only human and this will pass. Just when you can't possibly take anymore, bam, they go back to normal. FX you and LO catch a break!

  • Standing and holding him most the day-- sounds like you are doing Great. There is only so much you can do to make them feel better -- other than that it just sucks for you both.

  • I'm so sorry he's so fussy and sick. It's hard parenting a child that won't let you put them down. You're only human. Things will get better.

  • I'm so sorry he's still so sick.  DD has been sick all week, too, and it's been horrible and scary and I've been covered in puke more times than I can even count.  And then I was sick.  And now DH is sick.  It's awful!  It sounds like you are handling it as best as anyone else could, don't beat yourself up over it!  I hope he feels better soon and you're able to get some much needed rest for yourself over the weekend.

  • I'm so sorry :( You are doing nothing wrong, situations like this are very trying. I hope your DH can give you a break and I really hope Lincoln gets better very soon!! (((HUGS)))
  • Don't be so hard on yourself. Anyone in your situation would be in need of a break. There's nothing wrong with that - especially because the reason you need a break is that you've been taking such good care of him. I hope your H is now home on Daddy duty and that you are enjoying a nice warm bath and/or a glass of wine.
