Fighting naps?

Sorry if this is a repetitive post - I scrolled a little (not much) and couldn't find a post I thought was similar to this.  DD is starting to fight naps like crazy!  She usually goes down between 7:30 and 8p and sleeps until 6:30 to 7a.  Normally her first nap is around 10a and second between 2and 3p.  The past few days she is fighting sleep like crazy - I tried pushing up her morning nap to 9:30a today, but that resulted in 30min of crying before she slept for her usual around an hour.  I just put her down for another nap and she's wailing away again :(.  She's also been crying earlier than usual in the morning (between 5 and 6).  I thought it might be her teeth and tried some Motrin, but it doesn't seem to matter.  On a possibly random side note, her appetite is pretty small even for her and she's been super super clingy and wants me to carry her around all day. Any ideas?? Is she really ready to go down to one nap or is it a phase? Thanks ladies!

Re: Fighting naps?

  • This was happening for DD at ~ 11.5 months and then again about a week or two ago. Just keep pushing through. This past time it only lasted about a week or so, then she went back to normal and has even been sleeping longer during her naps the last couple of days. I have had to move her naps back about 1/2 an hour later than normal sometimes. Something that has helped us has been really making sure that DD has been burning a lot of energy before naptime. Chasing her around, dancing to music, etc. Good luck! Keep pushing through. Things will go back to normal. If she seems tired for both naps, I would keep going with two naps.

  • Thanks so much!  That's kind of what we've been doing and a little googling lead me to think it could be typical for the age range.  Glad to know I'm not alone!  We'll keep pushing through! :)
