I'm about to scream and I can't because my ILs are here. They brought down their surround sound system from the early 90s (not kidding) to give to us for Christmas. I'm talking the huge shelf and about 10 box speakers. WTH. I don't want speakers everywhere in my living room. DH told me they were going to, but I told him we didn't need them, that if he wanted surround sound, there's some better things out there. But what are they doing, but installing it now. Good thing I have two weeks off because it will be uninstalled and at the dump soon. I just needed to vent.
Re: Vent
Oh no. That is nice of them but that is definitely a "thanks but no thanks" kind of hand-me-down.
LOL at the image in my head of 10 massive speakers sitting all over every available surface.
I disagree. It's not nice to try to pass your trash off as a holiday gift.
Valid point but who is to say they think it's trash? They probably remember what they paid for it brand new and think it's worthy of passing down. Then again... maybe not.
I understand what you're saying, but practically speaking its still junk at this point. They probably couldn't sell it for 50.
This is reminding me of how DH and I ended up with our absolutely hideous dining table from my MIL. She just swore it was beautiful and I thought she was just being nice. Ummmm, yea... she just wanted space in her storage room in the basement and passed off this table as being some heirloom hand-me-down that she couldn't "stand the thought of selling". Why? Like you mentioned above - probably wouldn't have even gotten $50 out of it and now we have to figure out what to do with the d@mn thing.
I'm changing my stand point. Worm is right.
Ugh. That's the worst. Sucks you'll have to take the time to unhook it all once they leave too. THANKS A LOT IN-LAWS!
