Well I know I am at least! I have a very physical job so Thurs was my last day - at 36 weeks, it's a little unsafe due to the nature of my job. I'm ok with that, I was at my wit's end anyways with the swelling and pain after every workday. But now what?? The nursery is basically done, house is cleaned out from the attic to the basement, everything's organized and put away, including clothes, bags packed. I know it's a little early to be going stir crazy, but I'm an active person and this is torture..
I spent $100 at Pat Catan's and the grocery store yesterday to make homemade Xmas gifts and cookies which will keep me busy for about 2 days haha... I'm going to drive SO crazy- if I don't find things to occupy myself I just bug the crap out of him ![]()
Let's start a list of things to keep busy! (Obviously more for FTM's with no other children to care for, and people who are able keep working - kinda jealous of you not gonna lie!) Open to any suggestions - I've never even like baking and I'm on my third round of cookies today. Have I mentioned I think pregnancy has given me ADHD?
Re: It's so close...is everyone else going nuts or is it me
With DD I walked the mall A LOT! The guy at the coffee place inside loved me and would see me coming and already start my hot chocolate. I mostly just walked around and checked out the stores. Or sat and people watched. It was actually kind of fun. Plus I got really good at knowing the sales and making friends in the kids stores... it has totally come in handy!
I also got caught up on updating the address book.
If there a friend who is available for lunch maybe once or twice a week? I had a friend who got off work early and we would meet twice a week for salads and a glass of wine. It was fun!
Go to a movie by yourself. So stupid but there is some weird pleasure is sitting there without anyone talking to you and not sharing your popcorn.
I love this suggestion! I finished work on Thursday so am in the same boat... Looking for things to keep me busy until our first child arrives. I have no ideas though.. My thing is to clean like a maniac until I'm exhausted (we have two very hair dogs so there's never any shortage of hair to clean up off the floor). Exciting, no?
Do everything you can do... pedicure, massage, read, get out and go to the bank (not the drive up), go to the store, walk the mall, hang with friends, watch movies, watch tv, nap, have old pictures you want to sort?, need to finish a scrapbook?, anything and everything you can possible do while you dont have a tiny human to accompany you. It sounds very silly I know. But we definitely dont realize these little tasks become huge tasks when you have a baby.OOh what about meals for after you deliver? Like a week of meals you can freeze. Are you on pinterest there are awesome recipes there
Date night with your SO!! Go out to dinner, lunch, breakfast
Enjoy and have fun!!! Soon your LO will be here!

take a nap! good lord - with a toddler that never happens.
i know you are SO excited to meet your LO and i was in the exact same boat - i was on mod bed rest for 3 months before DS1 came and i spent a lot of time on the bump ahha
but now that i'm pg with him running around i'm so tired and sore i wish i could sometimes just put in a movie or take a nap. enjoy your alone time while you still have it
i also LOVE all the other suggestions from pp
Assuming you're crafty, since you mentioned the homemade Christmas gifts... I'd say take that and run with it. Make LO some cute blankets and stuff. Learn to crochet, maybe? Sometimes crafts require sitting and concentrating, so it might not jive with your urge to be "active." Worth a shot, though. I'm working til I go into labor (desk job), but I plan on making my own cloth diapers. Not sure if that's your thing, but it's worth a shot?
The Crafty Moms board has some awesome, fun ideas, too.
Enjoy this time and just relax. I'm working till my due date or till baby comes but I can still understand being bored because my weekends are like that sometimes. I spend my time cleaning, organizing, doing laundry, making freezer meals and chatting with friends.
Next week at work when basically I'll be the only one in the office I'm going to work on our birth announcement list and pre-print labels so we are ready to go after our newborn pictures.
If I was off work but not on bed rest I'd probably do as PP suggested and spend a lot of time walking the mall and people watching.
