Cribs- Compact vs Regular

Hello mommas.

I am pregnant with my 2nd child. My first is currently 19 mths. I no longer have his crib because he switched over to a toddler bed (though he never uses it). So I am in search of a new crib for the expecting baby. With my first, i did not get to choose his crib so I am researching this time around. My main concerns are room, safety, and price for the bang. We dont really have the room for a full size crib without everything being crowded, so I was considering purchasing a compact crib. I was wondering if any mothers here have used them and what are your reviews? I like the size and price. However, my first child was tall, so I am worried about my second child outgrowing it too fast to be worth it.

Re: Cribs- Compact vs Regular

  • I had looked at a company crib too but my concerns were that LO would grow out of it too fast and that the availability of mattress protectors and sheets would be limited, especially because we live in a smaller city.

What about an Ikea crib? They are regular size but have a simple clean design so they look more compact than most cribs.

  • I bough reg size, and I'm so glad I did! LO sleeps in a RnP and by the time she out grows that she would be to big for the mini.

  • Our nursery is on the small side and we went with the white Gulliver crib from IKEA. I wanted a semi-expensive (according to DH) $450 bigger, more decorative crib from BRU but am so happy with our $100 IKEA purchase, I'm still surprised by it! It doesn't take up much space visually and it seems to have a smaller footprint than a lot of the ones you'll see at BRU or BBB for example because it's a simple design. Good luck!
