Just curious if anyone is worried that their water will break while they are in bed. I started to think about the fact that we only have one set of sheets for King bed that we bought a few months ago. We have a mattress cover pad but is not waterproof. I tried to search to see if anyone else has posted about this before but couldn't find anything. I am wondering since it is getting closer to time if I should sleep with a couple of towels under me. And I think I need to go buy an extra set of sheets!

We have a waterproof mattress pad cover. I got mine at Tuesday Morning but found some about the same price at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Our poor kitty that just passed in August was having bladder problems so this worked like a charm when there were some accidents.
When we bought our mattress, we were given a waterproof cover because the store said the mattress warranty would be void if it got wet. Whether or not that's true, the cover was free and it lives in between the mattress and our mattress pad.
The issue here would be washing the mattress pad AND sheets if my water broke in bed.
I'm not worried, though. Like a PP said, it happens in only 15% of people.
So did we... it's made by Serta & for $20 it's actually pretty nice. We just bought a new mattress this week, and even besides the possibility of my water breaking it just seemed like a good idea between a sweaty DH & having LOs in the bed with us over the next several years.

Dear Baby Pacheco...
Last time I placed a couple of cheap towels under the sheets and I also did the same thing on the car; however my water never broke, they did it at the hospital
I should start looking for those towels now!
my friend said she used some piddle pads she had from when the dog was a puppy. just layed them in between the mattress and the sheets. but water never broke as is the case with most

Next time I remake the bed I'll probably add a towel under the sheet on my side. We have a mattress cover but just to add the extra layer of protection.
For my water breaking in other places, I have a trash bag and towel in my car and DH's.

I kind of hope mine does break while I'm in bed. I'd rather have it happen there than at work or on my new couch or glider.
We have a dust mite cover on our mattress that's also waterproof.
With DS my water broke while I was sleeping. On our new king size bed.
It was 6am and the feeling of my water breaking jolted me awake and got me out of bed so fast that NOT A DROP ended up on the bed. This was not a trickle. There was a trail of water from the bed to the bathroom and I was soaked.
A few days ago I put a chux pad under my side of the bed just in case it happens again.
my freind who just recently had a baby gave me a bag of necessities, in the bag were 2 large waterproof pad things, she said put one on the mattrass (under wehre i sleep) and take one in the car on your way to hospital just in case. they are not huge, but big enough to cover where i sleep in the bed.
Same here! My friend gave me 2 waterproof pads that she received from the hospital when she had her baby. I'm going to put it between the mattress and sheet.

I was going to say a mere towel on the bed would've definitely not helped when my water broke! It was a waterfall! Luckily I was in the hospital already, so it was nbd. But I'm definitely putting chux pads in my bed and car! Just in case.
And you should def have two sets of sheets at least. You aren't going to want to do laundry but if there's spit up on your sheets, what do you do if you're too exhausted to clean and no one else is home? Second set!!! :
Haha same here. I can't tell you how many times I've had a pain or discomfort this pregnancy and DH tries to get me to get it checked out and I say, "No, I'm fine". I'll probably do that when I'm in labor unless my water breaks.

On the water breaking note though, why not buy those potty training pads for kids and use that? Again, it will be something you will use for years to come down the line, and you won't have wasted your money.
Towels would not work in case your water breaks apocolypse style.. they dont actually protect anything when soaking wet.. :

typically, yes. But in my case I was not in labor at all & my water still broke while in bed. Just wanted to say its still very possible for your water to break any time.

uhhh, it was a ton of water for me! A towel definitely didn't do the trick for at least 5 minutes. Then, I put a pad on and soaked through that so fast. It was crazy.
