Overbearing mother

How do you deal with your mom who thinks she knows more than you as a mom?  She always thinks that I need her approval to do things.  I am annoyed. We got into a big argument just now. How do you handle it?

    My mother is very overbearing.....I found that, like anything, i can only control my own responce.  It wasn't effective when I got mad or irritated with her and it wasn't really effective when I said no or that I didn't agree.  every time I do those things she either gets all pissed off OR cries and guilts me for making her feel like crap.  SO now I just smile and say thanks for the idea and move on.  However, that is easier for me since I live in another state.   Im assuming your mom lives near by.....in that case try sitting her down when you are not emotional and say how you feel.  I actually did that once and my mom flat out told me "Nope you are wrong"  After that I just didn't bother anymore.

    My mom is the same way. She insisted on coming to stay with us for 7 weeks after the baby was born. OMG. The first week she was helpful but after that it seemed like she wanted to take over.That won't happen again. :)

    I simply tell her each time she goes overboard that I have to learn to do this on my own. Everything isn't always gong to be smooth and perfect but I am learning to do this and I need her to relax and let me.
