Is it better for me to get a prenatal doctor that is through military therefore they would be able to be there when i give birth to my child, because i am planning on giving birth to the baby in a military hospital (walter reed) right now my OB is a civilian..

I'm confused, you go to an OB that is out of walter reed, but what to deliver at walter reed?
If you are at the new walter reed bethesda, I strongly suggest staying there for care and delivery. I was there for the first half of my pregnancy and love it. DH PCS'd to lejuene and I HATE the care here. Every single person I saw at bethesda was amazing, I loved Dr. Hart, she was amazing. I wish I was still there so I could deliver there. They are very thorough, and at even if something seems like there might be a problem, they refer you to a specialist right away. I was high risk and I never felt more confident in my care.

yeah im 9 weeks so just went to one doctors visit but i am paying a co payment of 25 every time i go there so i was thinking about switching , i just am getting fed up with bolling AFB clinic which is where we are stationed they have had me go back 3 times for blood work, which they told me i have to have it confirmed by military.. not sure if i go to bethesda they will have me doing the same tests again, very stressful i just want to have a regular prenatal visit. Went to see doctor at bolling , 1 had an attitude with us 2 was not informative or did not question us at all and 3 rushed us out real quick and told me i probably was not pregnant in which i am. So if i go to the ob in walter reed will i have to go through the same run around or can they get records from bolling

Okay, so my husband used to work at Bethesda and he said if you want to be tranferred to Walter Reed for care you need to get a reffered by your PCM to go there. Which doesn't always happen, depending on availability.
If you do get the refferal, as long as you get your records from where you've been seen and bring them to WR they wont make you redo any of the tests you've already had done. Not gonna lie, when you're pregnant you get a lot of bloodwork, idk what you've gotten done, but just a warning, there might be more.

if you plan on having the baby at Walter Reed than you should have a Dr that practice there. This way the Dr's will know everything that is going on through your pregnancy.

My rainbow is finally here February 7, 2013
I just gave birth there and had a wonderful experience. I had all my prenatal care done with a Besthesda OB, but that is b/c my base (Ft Meade) doesn't have an OB unit. Thankfully Bethesda sends their OB to ft meade every wednesday so I didn't have to drive there each week. My PCM put in a referral to Bethesda for me.
