Babies: 6 - 9 Months

is it possible to sleep-train without CIO? (also posted on may 2012 board)

So, my SIL just said my LO might be waking up at night because she doesn't know how to put herself back to sleep.  She eats, so I thought she was hungry-- but she also doesn't sleep for the nice 6-hour stretches she used to.

Can we teach her to fall asleep on her own (sans nursing) without making her cry it out?

Thanks!

  • How old?

What was the difference when she was sleeping 6 hrs? Did she used to be swaddled?

ETA: Based on "May", I'll guess 7 months ;)

  • I'm not sure, but I hope so because we aren't going to CIO.  LO still wakes up 3 times a night to eat.  I'm starting to try and get her to put herself to sleep for naps.  So far, she just sits in her crib shaking her head "no" and then gets angry so I have to rock her.

  • Thanks, everyone.  I'll try to put her down drowsy but awake when we get home, and we'll see how that goes first.
