Tell me about your eco-friendly crib choices. Any brand in particular? Things to look out for?

The only marketed eco-friendly cribs I've seen are horribly expensive. I did see a blog post suggesting you get the unfinished Ikea crib, then finish it with food-grade linseed oil (and replace the pressboard). Has anyone tried this?

I'm curious too! I asked about nursery furniture before and never got much of a response! Hopefully someone chimes in. :]

I really didn't find anything when I was looking (that wasn't crazy expensive anyways). I would suggest whatever you do end up buying, buy it early enough that you can put it together and air out for as long as possible before you have to put a baby in it. If you can get it outdoors or open windows that can help to.

i was so discouraged by the cost of eco friendly baby furniture. i ended up doing the ikea thing... they actual use less toxic finishes than most standard furniture and I just couldn't afford the other stuff.
