Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Finger foods for 7 month old

My DD was not really into the purees and I tried giving her some cheerios. She picks them up with ease and ate a ton of them! I tried giving her some soft banana pieces and some soft broccoli. She ate it all. Anyone else starting finger foods? What are you giving your baby? My DD crawls, sits, and chews.

  • I'm also trying to give whatever we're eating.  He's been eating pasta, muffins, chicken pot pie, gram crackers

  • We aren't giving her everything we eat yet but she has had foods like broccoli, green beans, avocado, squash, pears, banana, pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc.  Even a little guacamole and broccoli cheddar soup.  For the most part I am fine letting her try most foods.

  • My DD loves banana, pasta noodles, bits of soup (not so much finger foods)... the insides of a soft pretzel, shredded cheese, chicken/turkey, cooked carrots, animal crackers.  Start small, and move forward when you think your LO is ready.

  • You might want to take a loook at the baby lead weaning book or cookbook for ideas.  I was nervous to give anything at first but 2 weeks in my 6 month old is eating banana, avocado, lots of roasted veggies (sweet pototoes, zuchini, carrots, parsnip, white potatoes, squash, green beans), pita bread, oatmeal fingers made with quick oats and milk, sweet potato pancakes, quino and rice. Oddly right now his favorite food is asparagus. We also had a meat and veggie stew in the slow cooker last night and he loved it.  Basically I am giving giving him anything we ate, just starting to cook without salt s we can do that. He's younger than your LO so he's mostly chewing and spitting things out but some is clearly making its way through him and he's getting more skilled each day.
