Fat babies and BG 3.0

My DS is roughly 17.5lbs and I use the 3rd setting on the BGs. I put it on the 2nd setting and it seemed too tight on his little (well big) belly. I know that they are supposed to thin out once crawling/walking starts. Just wondering if any other babies are on the chunky side and which worked best.

Re: Fat babies and BG 3.0

  • I just recently started CDing and knew I wanted to use pockets. My DD is roughly 23 lbs at 9 months, she is a big healthy girl: ) When I visited our local CD store the gal immediately steered me away from BGs (that is what I was originally interested in) and over to FBs. She said these would last longer with DD due to her chunkiness and height.?

  • Caedan still isn't crawling too much and has a big belly. ?We still use it on the M setting. ?I found that it made the leg openings too large on the L. ?What are you using as an insert? ?Are you only using it at night? ?I find it hard to believe that he needs it on L at 3 months. ?But of course you know best :o)

  • My DD was about 16 lbs at 4 months, and we started cd'ing around 5 months. We used BGs and HPs. DD has always used the highest setting on the BGs and never had any issues.

  • DS's legs are super chunky! We haven't had any problems with leaking on the L setting . We use the regular insert.

  • DD is about 19lbs.  During the day we use BG3.0's on the 2nd setting.  It night we stuff them more so we let all the snaps out.  We have noticed in the last month or so she's totally thinning out and her diapers aren't as snug as she gets longer.

  • My DS is 18 pounds and we have his diapers set on the medium setting. I don't think they are too snug on him, but he isn't really chunky. He's just long and lean.
  • If you find that you just don't love them, check out Wonderoos if you like a snap one size diaper. They're cut significantly bigger than many one size diapers and they're a great fit for chubby babies, plus the inner fleece is SUPER soft:)
  • DS was 19.5 lbs at 6m and wore them on the "medium" setting for day, and "large" for night with two inserts.  He went to the large setting full time around 8 months and has been on it ever since.  He is now 28-29 lbs at just over 20 months and they still fit him great, even with two inserts (for naps).
  • I had to sell mine, my DD is only 27 pounds and they stopped fitting her at 12 months. I guess it's how they fit. For us the rise was too low, DD has a long body and her butt cracked always showed in them. Plus by that time, the velcro was getting bad and DD could take them off herself.
