how are the walkers doing?

LO took his first steps a few weeks back, but has just recently started walking more than crawling.  He still holds his arms up near his head, which is hilarious! He's getting much faster, especially when he's heading towards the Christmas tree.

How are all the other walkers faring so far?

Re: how are the walkers doing?

  • Ds started walking a little around thanksgiving, but just a few steps here and there. Within a week, he could easily walk across a room, but usually just crawled. Now he has almost completely given up on crawling and follows me everywhere almost at a run! It's too funny to watch him stand up by himself. He has a little trouble when he can't hold on to anything, so he spreads his legs as far as he can get and kinda walks his hands up til he's upright. Then he takes off like a flash! He's really good at bending to pick things up and carrying things while he is walking, but it takes him a little longer to get upright!

  • DS just started taking a few steps here and there this week. He usually takes 2 or 3, and then drops to his knees and crawls. I can't wait until he starts walking more, it's so funny to watch him!

  • My daughter started walking the week before Halloween, so she's been at it awhile now. She's very fast and mostly steady on her feet (unless she's wearing heavy shoes). She went through a couple of stages - at first she held her arms out in front of her (we called it the zombie walk), then they moved back by her chest, and now she just walks and sometimes almost runs.

  • I referred to it as the 'drunken stupor', but our biggest issue right now is E running.  I rarely seem him crawling.  He wants to go everywhere, and fast.  Sometimes his little feet can't keep up with his body, so we've had a few spills.  Other than that, he's doing great.  I did try to put hard sole shoes on him for the first time today, he kept picking his feet up really high like he was trying to get them out of the mud.  It was cute, but he needs more practice in hard sole shoe walking. 99% of the time he is in socks, barefoot or the soft sole robeez.

  • Damien took his first steps in October but is just recently at the stage where he can walk steadily, without looking like a tiny drunk person. :) (He still struggles when he's wearing shoes though.) He recently started attempting to run, and I think that may give me a heart attack...

  • Ds took first steps in August, so he is a pro now- sadly I am having a hard time keeping up with his pace. He RUNS everywhere.
