Stage 2 formula?

DS uses enfamil 0 to 12 months. DH wants to try using the stage 2 formula for 9 months and up because you get more for your money and it is cheaper.

But the reviews are horrible saying it causes gas and constipation, and it doesn't mix well.

Anyone have experience with this stage 2 formula? I'm weary to change anything. If DH keeps pushing it I'll have him call and ask our pedi, but just wanted to see if anyone here has experience.

Huh, I've never even thought of it, but I also didn't realize it was cheaper! If you've never had problems with gassiness, I'd go for it.

I asked my pedi about this at Aria's 9 (10?) month appointment yesterday. He says it's more of a marketing gimmick than anything, and that he would like us to keep Aria on regular formula until she's switched to WCM.

He reiterated what the reviews said: causes gas, constipation, and doesn't mix well. He also said, "if it's not broken, don't fix it".

We use the Walmart version (Parent's Choice) of Similac Advance. It's about $19 for a large can, and we only use two of them a month now that Aria is on solids.

Same. My doctor said it's just another way to get parents to dish out cash. You're close to being done with formula anyway. I would stick with what is working, instead of switching.

DD is on Similac Go&Grow. It's Similac's 9m+ formula. We don't have any problems with gas or constipation. DD also drinks some WCM with meals and I plan on switching her to WCM at 1 year.

Call the Pedi sounds like a scam to me. We've got 2 more months left and they are eatting more the costs should go down.

My ped said it was more gimmicky too. I looked at the contents...there's not a big difference in what's in it. However, it is a little cheaper. I've not tried it yet, but I do have a box of it. I still have other formula to use first. I also plan on switching to milk once he's a year old but don't necessarily plan on doing it cold turkey...you're 1, you have to have milk; not my plan. I plan on doing a gradual wean, over a month maybe. So, yes, I have some, but no I've not tried it. And, I've not heard/read anything negative (gas, constipation) until I read this thread.
