Blended Families

I am done with new posters for the year.

There are so many new posters I cannot tell which are real, almost all sound like another poster or have holes in the stories. If we don't bite they will go away and hopefully if they are real they will come back and post again.

Re: I am done with new posters for the year.

  • Yesterday I found it hard to believe that all these new posters all of a sudden came out of the woodwork on the same day. It was a whole lot of crazy.
No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

  • Yeah, 13 new posters in two day! Go find somewhere else to play. I am done opening them because I get tempted to post.

  • AMEN. It seemed way too obvious.
  • I posted for the first time the other day on this board and the reason I came here is that I am a newlywed as of August so I figured the "blended family" boards could give me some advice on the ongoing problem I had.  I used to post in Single parenting but I am no longer a single parent.  Confused

  • I gues I am still a new poster though now I'm keeping to just replys on advice ect. My story is crazy but I think it's mostly because right now I am in an ongoing case and also because my ex's girlfrind is crazy(and not in a good way). I never thought I'd have to deal with this much crap. Honestly I'd love to be in the shoes where the spats are about the kids not getting regular showers or something like that.

With that said I do see how many recent posts seem very far fetched...I, however, have resigned myself to believe that maybe their situations aren't as cut and dry as everyone elses...though I do find it hard to believe someone would be able to file a false report of child abuse on someone...every claim has to be investigated right? Even if it's by the police?

I think that nee posters should lurk for a while, respond to other posts and then make a thread if the want advice for their situation.

Even if the new posters are not MUD, a lot of them just post, get lots of replies and then disappear so its pretty much a waste of time because they are not really adding anything to the board.

In defense of us new posters, a lot of us don't have anything constructive to say in comments because we haven't been through this as long as some of the 'regulars'. So sometimes our comments aren't as informative and we don't want to waste your time reading something that is so far off the mark, or even worse, be attacked because of an answer that may not be right. I'm not saying anyone in particular but I've seen some posters flamed for their comments. Oh, and also, I don't get a lot of time to come on TB. So while I read all the threads and comments, and sometimes I do have something to contribute, I won't post a comment on a thread that's been dead for a few days. No one will read it anyway.

But then you don't see how annoying it gets for the regulars (not specifically me, since I post from time to time) to respond to post after post from new people that come and never post again?

Even if you don't have a lot of experience, you can just say what you think about the situation, whether it will be a good answer or not, it might offer a different POV. Even if its a bad answer, you will get called out for it but then you will have learned something.

I started posting on this board with absolutely nothing to contribute. I was a young and inexperienced single mom. I have been flamed several times but I learned from it. So the newbies shouldn't be shy and respond to other posts!!

FWIW, I have seen you responding to other posts so what I said was not necessarily directed to you.

Oh I know it wasn't directed toward me, or at least I hoped! And I definitely see how annoying it can be to answer a post and then never hear from the person again. I guess it was just a guilty conscience talking because I know when I first came aboard and posted a question I was guilty of not coming back to look at it for days.

  • i mostly lurk here as my SO and I aren't hitched.  But I have read a lot of useful advice that I can relate to regarding my ex and current custody situation.  I just don't understand why someone wants to ruin a good thing.  Happy holidays!

  • Wendi - it must be.  A lot of people looking for attention.

As for the new posters...it's the whacky, far out stories and then deletes that annoy the hell out of us. Not new posters in general.

  • I can't keep up here anymore. I poke in every few days and see if there are any posts from oldies, but that is all I have time for :(
