Question about my Furbaby

Hi ladies, this question is about my dog Milkyway.

Some back story: She is 4 years old and is a very well trained dog. She has high anxiety from being  born into a shelter and not loved until we adopted her. She is a mut, mixed between a wire hair terrier and a German Shepard. She has not had an accident in the house for probably 3 years.

Yesterday I woke up and was changing the baby and noticed there was a wet spot on the carpet in his room and it was dog pee. I told my dog "bad" but let it go after that. This afternoon DH went upstairs and in front of our bedroom door there was dog pee but it was bright yellow, and just a small amount and she was just let outside.

Do you think that she is just trying to get more attention or do you think there could be something wrong with her health? She seems to be acting normal and not sick.

Thanks for the help, I know this isn't about my DS but I ask you guys about him, why not ask about my pup.

Re: Question about my Furbaby

  • As PP said, make a call to the vet just to ensure there is no bladder infection. My little dog started peeing in the house in my last trimester, something he never does. He even wet our bed with us in it! After ruling out bladder infection, we had to restrict water at night (vets advice), and that solved it. GL!

  • Is it always bright yellow? My dogs pee more of a clear color and just like humans yellow pee is a sign of dehydration. Unless she always pees that color then maybe that's her norm but that is just what I know from working at a shelter.

I have one mix who was born in a shelter and he also has horrible anxiety but once LO came along he became a worried big brother. At first it was really bad with him whining every time she cried but now he just loves running to her room to check on her and following us around when we hold her.

You furbaby sounds like she might be upset about the new order of things but I'd do what pp said and call the vet to rule anything out. One of our cats did it for a couple weeks because she was ticked off that she didn't get much lap time from me anymore.

Hope it's nothing serious and she just wants some more attention.
